Time Machine did not finish backing up with popup saying "some files were unavailable" on my MacBook Pro.

Time Machine not working. Tried on three different backup drives, same result: "Time Machine did not finish backing up because some files were unavailable. Backups will resume when your Mac is unlocked."

Backup starts normally, but I always return to this message. I have never had a problem running a backup while Mac is locked before...

Were you trying to backup your data, as doing other things with your computer?

Backing up is best done with no applications open except System Settings at most and while you are asleep.

If you are syncing with iCloud, temporarily stop doing so as well.

Do not use another backup software simultaneously.

Do not use antivirus or cleanup software. If you think you might be using cleanup software, read this tip:

If issues persist with no background apps, it may be time to verify the health of the drive:

http://binaryfruit.com has a software called DriveDX which can do that.

You may find it is better to use a cloning software, as described on this tip:
