Why is my mid 2013 MacBook Air giving me shocks?

I currently have a mid 2013 MacBook Air running Big Sur. It uses Magsafe 2. But whenever I charge it, it always gives me huge shocks. And I was wondering if there was a solution for this.

Kind regards,

Fowy.

It is often the human body that has the charge. Shoes with rubber soles and walking on carpet, can built up a charge in the body, that will then be released when touching metal. Some types of weather can make it happen more often. Some people are more susceptible for the static shock than others.

You can discharge yourself once in a while, by touching metal that is grounded (e.g. a faucet), making yourself neutral again, before touching your electronic device. See if that helps.
