Apple TV keeps saying Pair Your Remote

My Apple TV 4K is working as normal except that, from a few hours ago, it keeps saying "Pair Your Remote Bring it closer to Apple TV" in the top right-hand corner of the screen. I can make the message go away with the Back/Menu button, but a few seconds later it reappears. If I leave the message on the screen it eventually goes away by itself, only to reappear after a few seconds.

My remote (I only have one) appears to be working normally and nothing changes if I put it next to the ATV. I've restarted the ATV and also disconnected the power lead for a while. I've also charged the remote to full.

Can anyone help me get movie night back on track? Thanks in advance.
