Try updating the software on your Mac through the App Store. Click the Apple menu () > App Store, then click Updates at the top to install all available updates for your Mac. If you’re asked to upgrade macOS here, confirm and upgrade to the latest available version for your Mac.

If you weren’t asked to upgrade macOS from the App Store, you’ll still need to upgrade macOS so your Mac has new enough software to be compatible with the software on your iPhone 11. Click the Apple menu () > About This Mac to identify which model iMac you have.

  • If your iMac was introduced in 2011 or earlier, upgrade to macOS High Sierra 10.13
  • If your iMac was introduced in 2012 or 2013, upgrade to macOS Catalina 10.15
  • If your iMac was introduced in 2014 or Mid-2015, upgrade to macOS Big Sur 11
  • If your iMac was introduced in Late 2015, upgrade to macOS Monterey 12
  • If your iMac was introduced in 2017, upgrade to Ventura 13

After upgrading the software on your Mac, your Mac should now be compatible with the software on your iPhone 11. You may want to update iOS on your iPhone as well, but this should not be necessary to connect the devices.

If the issue persists, you may want to contact support for a one-on-one chat or phone call.
