Options in Maps Not Working as Expected

I get emails with an address of a house. I roll over the address and it gives me the option to open with a little map. The map has an option to "Open in Maps". I do that. But it always opens in "Explore" mode. I want it to open in Satellite mode. Is there a way to do that? Also, when I change to Satellite mode manually then remove the dialog boxes the red pin showing where the house is goes away. Is there a way to keep it displayed?
