How to connect to FTP on Mac? Connection process

I want to use FTP to transfer files, but I'm not sure about the process. Do I need to install some kind of client, or is there an inbuilt solution.

I don't quite get the connection process itself...

Please suggest the best working and reliable way for Mac.

Maybe a third-party solution that you have positive experience with.

Thank you

You can use the built-in Terminal app. But it doesn't have a graphical user interface like third-party clients. I mean that it would be easier for a beginner to work in a clear interface.

First of all, I think you should try an FTP client, it is easier to get to grips with FTP/SFTP file transfer protocols. A detailed guide on how to connect via FTP, including Terminal: https://ftp-mac.com/how-to-use-ftp-on-mac.html

So as an FTP client, I would look at Commander One with a built-in terminal or Transmit. Great for beginners
