SYNCING IMESSAGES WITH MACBOOK AIR AND IPHONE

My MacBook Pro is no longer receiving my iMessages from my iPhone. they are not syncing. I recently set a new password on my iCloud on my phone.

Have you went to system settings in your MacBook, then click on your name at the top and updated your new password? In settings more than likely you'll see that you need to update your Apple ID settings which means you need to enter your new Apple ID password.
