My Apple Watch Series 8 stopped charging after the last update. I have read prior solutions on this forum but they have not worked (cleaned charger, Apple charger not third party, held down crown and side buttons etc) but so far nothing as worked.

I'm afraid, if an original Apple adapter and charging cable does not work, getting it serviced would be the next step.
