If purchased at an Apple Store they will (usually?) register for you. Or you'll have your AppleCare box with the website address and the serial (or registration) number and you just go to the site and register.

And as you buy AppleCare for even more products, you end up with a full page showing all the computers, iPods, etc., that you have enrolled under AppleCare!

Some schools work with apple to offer a bigger discount, more so than the normal student discount. It's due to the school paying a little of the cost as well (subsidized) Anyhow, they said 50 GBP, not euros, which is more $90.

He didn't. He got it for 50 POUNDS. And his topic says that he probably got a student rebate. ;))

Hey there guys, i got it for £50 GBP. I bought it with the macbook from the apple higher education website. I checked on the apple support pagge earlier and it said that my macbook is covered for more then 1000 days, thus i assume it is automatically covered with the apple care.

Brilliant bargain. I think its due to a deal being made between apple and the government in the UK, therefore they are subsidising it.

I also purchased mine through the HE education store, but mine is under warranty for only a year. Purchased on the 26th March 2006.

When did you purchase yours ?

Have tried to call Apple, to see if i could purchase this Apple Protection Plan, but i was unsucessful in getting any answer.

Does anybody know if it would be possible to purchase this at this stage ?

At the bottom of the page where you select the options for your purchase there should be the "AppleCare Protection Plan" and you can elect to purchase it or not. If you purchased it online, as londonguy apparently did, you're automatically enrolled (and he will be shortly receiving a 'certificate' in the mail in case he ever needs to prove that he has a full three year warranty).

Just as HE computers are discounted, so, too, it seems, is AppleCare, and I believe that you can purchase it at any time during the first 90 days after purchase. It's a bargain at £279, but at £50 it's a genuine steal.

Since you bought your MacBook Pro so recently, you should be able to buy AppleCare but rather than search online, if I were you, I would just call the regular UK Apple Store at 0800 039 1010 and let them know about your purchase, tell them you'd like to get AppleCare and ask how to go about it.

It gives you three years of parts and labor warranty on your hardware and 3 years of phone support, as well. I knew that it was discounted for HE purchases but I didn't realize it was so inexpensive!

I know that other computer companies have deals for schools, students, educators, etc., but Apple got the ball rolling back in the days of the Apple II and has not let the education market down in all that time. It's great to see that they're offering such terrific pricing for extending an already great service.
