Aperture erro - ICA download error -45

Anybody know what this error might mean Apple has never heard of it, Google has never heard of it - do I get a prize for being the first to ever have it?
it occurs when I try to import pictures to Aperture.

It looks like some other guy is having the same problem.
But seriously, (based on the info in the other post) is it only when you try to import directly from the card? Or do you get this error if you move the files from the card to a folder on your hard drive, and then import from there? Is this in a CF card reader, or from the camera directly?

Thanks for helping out.
The error occurs when I try and import directly from a CF reader. I've previously imported dozens of times frm the same chip and reader.
I can copy the files to a folder, but then when I try and import to aperture I get the following error:
'An error (Couldn't open) occurred while attempting to import: '
I can import from botht he CF card and the foler into iPhoto.
I have read/write access to the files and the folder.

A little more digging reveals that ICA is Apple's Image Capture Architecture - what Image Capture and other apps use for working with images.
I poked around the header files in the ICA framework, but there's no -45 errors. There is a -45 error that's just a standard Mac error: it's a "file is locked" error. Perhaps you have a file inside the Aperture library that became inadvertently locked, and now you can't import anymore.
Have you had Aperture crash recently, during an import perhaps? I'm not sure if rebuilding the library would help or not, but it seems like the root of your problem is a locked file that Aperture write access to before it can do another import. It could also be an ICA thing, where similarly it's trying to write to a file that's locked. Unfortunately, I don't have the knowledge to say which it is, or what this file might be.
I suppose as a last suggestion, maybe launch Console (in /Applications/Utilities), and watch your console.log while you try to do an import. Maybe either Aperture or ICA is writing an error to the console that is more helpful than what Aperture shows you.

that some other guy is this same guy ...
anywho ...
couple of questions ...
1 - referenced or managed files in aperture ???
2 - internal or external HDD ???
3 - did you recently move your library or image storage location ???
4 - what format is the target HDD ???
5 - does this happen on every import into aperture no matter what ???
6 - can you try to create a new aperture library and try to import to it ???

Thanks again for your help.
Have you had Aperture crash recently,
Not that I recall, but its not impossible. It has crashed once or twice in the past.
watch your console.log while you try to do an import
Nothing evident.

Thanks for chipping in.
1 - referenced or managed files in aperture ???
A mix of both
2 - internal or external HDD ???
Internal, I have a second drive, just for pictures
3 - did you recently move your library or image storage location ???
Nope
4 - what format is the target HDD ???
Mac OS X extended (journaled)
5 - does this happen on every import into aperture no matter what ???
Yes.
6 - can you try to create a new aperture library and try to import to it ???
I tried this and the import fails in exactly the same way.

o - rw
g -r
o - r
I've been using the same disk for over a year without problem. It has 176GB free
does it error out on importing as referenced as well as managed ???
Aha! maybe I see the problem. Under 'Store files' in the import dialog 'Pictures' is selected rather than 'in the aperture library' or 'in their current location'
Not sure how this got selected (or what it means, for that matter), but if I now choose 'in the aperture library' all is well.
Something a little obscure here.

Out of curiosity, did you install iLife (or at least iPhoto) 08 just before this happened? iPhoto seems to have a propensity for changing Aperture's preferences without telling the user. The linked-to article doesn't talk about this particular issue, but a different one were Aperture's prefs were changed by iPhoto on a new install.
