richaleau,
Try resetting your iPhone. To reset the iPhone, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time until you see the Apple logo.
If that doesn't work, then try to reset all settings. To reset settings, Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. Note: This will reset all settings. No data or media will be deleted.
If that still doesn't work, you can try restoring the iPhone using iTunes. To restore, connect the iPhone to your computer. When it appears in the Source list, click on Restore in the Summary tab. Note: This will delete all media and data. All settings will be reset as well. If possible, sync iPhone with iTunes before restoring to back up your most recent settings.
Hope this helps,
Jennifer B.

Having the same issues as everyone here. I've been following everyone's advice and nothing has worked to resolve the issue. Finally, I called Apple Tech support to discuss the issue. I explained everything and even mentioned how there are numerous threads in these discussion boards that refer to this issue, but to date...Apple has said nothing. The representative mentioned that she has heard a few times about it, but, said that there was no "formal complaint registered yet" with their tech research staff. Obviously, I told her to file an issue which she then supposedly did.
In short....keep offering suggested solutions if anyone really has any new ones; but, would everyone PLEASE CALL TECH SUPPORT TO VOICE THEIR COMPLAINT AS WELL. Here's the number: 1-800-694-7466. This really *****. I love my iPhone, but, this issue is driving me crazy. Thanks and good luck!

I'm having a similar issue. For some reason, when I select a song, some of them will play fine, others will play the first few seconds and then skip to the next song in the playlist. Even songs I've listened to for ages past are doing this now.
I've reset, restored, re-synch'd etc., but no change... all the songs work just fine in iTunes and I think it's only songs I purchased on iTunes that have this problem... any ideas?

I found that reloading the song/video that gets cut off, via iTunes will fix the problem. But it's annoying.

I have the same problem except my music cuts off while in iPod mode. I'm not using Safari, just listening to music. Id doesn't matter if I buy the song from iTunes or add it myself. I think I have had luck manually managing the music by adding the albums one at a time. Can't be sure till i listen to each one individually. This *****, $528.94 and it doesn't even work properly.

I just bought a new 16 gig Iphone and mine is doing the same thing. It is really annoying. If i restart it, it tends to be ok for a while, but after a short time using it, it is back to the same problem where the music stops and it kicks me back to the homepage.

My iphone has just started doing the same thing. I've had my 16 gig. iPhone for just 3 weeks and in the middle of a tune will shut down and switch to the main menu. Buyer beware, I guess! Should have checked out this message board before purchasing. I am hoping for a software update soon to resolve this. It makes me question Apple's commitment to product support when they do not respond on here. It's all well and good for user input but is Apple listening and doing anything about these issues.

I was just checking out some of the discussions on the iPod Touch and users have the same problem with that. Music stops and goes to the home menu. HELLO, IS APPLE LISTENING?
