I second the request for a list of printer/scanner/copier devices for which software will be updated - my All-In-One 1610 Laserjet prints, but the scan/copy functions are dead (except for error messages).

Hello Andrew, Understand your busy at the moment. Will you be looking to to help with hp items as far back as scanjet 4370 which was always a bit dodgy with CS3 and know leopard is installed doesn't work at all so. We have had to drag the good old 12" out of the cabinet running tiger to be able to scan. Best wishes.

I have the same problems printing to:

HP LaserJet 5000 (PostScript)
HP DeskJet 1200C/ps (PostScript)
Epson Stylus Photo R260

The printers generally hang, or change back to READY status when the print job disappears from the status window. I've reset the printers and still nothing works. It does this from all applications I print from: Entourage, InDesign, Word, Illustrator. All printers worked flawlessly in Tiger, now it's a hit or miss proposition now. Anybody know an easy way to uninstall Leopard and go back to Tiger till this thing's fixed?

As I have lots of publication work to proof from physical paper, I'm having to export to PDF and send to the ancient Dark Side computer to print. This is ridiculous!!! Come on Apple, show us you care!

I have installed the beta drivers/software for the HP-5610. Ever since then my Mac Pro never sleeps unless I kill all the HP Processes via the Activity Monitor. My question is will this be resolved in near future?

Thanks!

Folks, I just wanted to point out this thread for a Scanner Installer I had put together for you. It provides scanning support for quite a few different All-in-Ones, so I suggest you take a peek at the thread and see my Christmas present for you all.

Just trying to help.

Andrew

PS Sorry, this doesn't address any Lasers, those updates are still in the pipeline.

The difference between professional All-in-Ones and consumer All-in-Ones is, that HP just does ignore, that professional users use those machine for business and do need it. Therefore the Lasers are later supported and the consumer line enjoys fast support.

I will throw away my HP Laserjet All-in-One. There are other manufactures, who provide better and faster support. HP is a manufacturer, professional users with mac computers should just ignore.

Or perhaps HP set the priorities by number of users impacted. Or perhaps for whatever reason, what was easier to fix got fixed first. Or maybe HP figured that business users would be smart enough not to jump on an OS upgrade without making sure that functions their business depended on actually worked. At least in your case, they seem to have overestimated their professional users... And where do you get off assunming that your printing needs are more important than mine?

Wow, you sure showed HP! Here's another take: I upgrade once I know that what I absolutely need indeed works, but even so, I have a huge problem with HP printers: the damned things just don't break down! At times, I've been frustrated because the fact that HP printers just keep going and going like a Duracell bunny makes it hard to justify buying that new one I'm eying, the one that has the features I don't need but would love to have. We have HP lasers at work that have well over a million copies on the counter, and they're still going.

Even though I understand that this driver issue is frustrating, it seems to me that you're not nearly as savvy at running your business as HP is at running theirs.

So you just ignore that if Apple upgrades OS X the most complains are about HP All-in-Ones. If you just use HP lasers, that should never be a problem to connect, because most of them support Postscript.
And how do you want to ensure that something works without trying out?
Be shure that I am savvy enough to keep running my company. I had indeed no problems to change from Tiger to Leopard, all applications work and all other hardware is fully operational. And I am just happy, that we have only one HP, other printers and all-in-ones do their job.
About frustration: It is indeed frustrating, that this one device is causing problems with every OS-Upgrade. It was from 10.3 to 10.4 the same thing as it is now. And HP needed about 1.5 years to provide a new driver. Do you name that professional?

I have to agree with your thinking. I run my business from home and require my HP All-N-None to be current with drivers and support 24/7. It seems that HP has been lagging behind in a more consistent manner as of late with updated software.

I scan and email 50 or so documents daily. I piled up work and had to resort to FAXING which is costly from California to Colorado. Thanks HP for the Beta software that does not allow my Mac to sleep.

I can not wait for them to be ready. I have read many posts about the hassles these drivers cause. I have decided to go to Cannon for an All-In-One. On the way to get the Pixma 830 now.

Sorry but business waits for no one...

A couple more final releases have made it onto hp.com. They are as follows:

Photosmart D7200 Series
Photosmart D7400 Series

I wish I had more for you as more are ready, but technical problems prevent me from getting more out to you.

Just trying to help.

I agree, business waits for no one, but responsible business doesn't upgrade an OS without being sure that mission-critical applications run on it without a hitch. Take a look at most major corporations these days and see how few have already jumped on the MS Vista bandwagon (and Vista has been out a lot longer than Leopard). Most wait until they have tons of feedback to rely on, the first service packs have been released and tested, and so on. How are you supposed to know if it works without upgrading? By doing your research (on this forum, for instance) or by using just one machine or an external drive to test drive the new OS in your business environment. You were clearly able to run you business on Tiger, right? Well, other than your personal desire (which is hardly a business criterion), what made you move to Leopard so soon?

Do I applaud HP for this driver mess? Certainly not, and it should never have happened. The fact that HP is such a popular brand of printers with so many different models in the marketplace merely makes the job of fixing the mess more difficult. Again, I understand your frustration, but you're aiming your anger at the wrong party. Granted, HP screwed up the drivers, but if you want to know who screwed up your business, you need to look no further than the nearest mirror. The fact that you indicate you already had problems going from Panther to Tiger makes your early adoption of Leopard even more incomprehensible.

I have a 2605dn that works fine with Leopard. It is connected via Ethernet and was found via Bonjour. I did a clean install of Leopard and did not manually install any HP software. I used the driver that Leopard found on its own. I know one other person who did the same thing and is also have no problems with a 2605dn and Leopard.
