I've had the same issues as many others. Since updating throught the software update utility, essentially no internet connection. (sporadically my Google home page will pop up sometimes, but never anything complete beyond that - hangs indefinitely)
MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo (bought in October 07), WRT54GX4 Linksys Wireless G router. Are people suggesting using the standalone combo update ON TOP OF the already malfunctioning 10.5.2 update?
This issue is on many other boatds as well. I don't think it's just a few obscure router models. It's a straight-up error in the update.

I did here at work. Of course, I won't know if it works to eliminate the wireless error until I get home and use my Westell.

While it may not be their fault, it is still their responsibility to produce a product that, in fact, continues to work with equipment they claim it will. i.e., if you create a product that you claim will work with various manufacturers routers (for multiple platform networks), and then take money for it, you are obligated to "play well with the other kids" and do your testing and research. Blame or not, they do need to address these issues that have arisen because of their new code.

DLink DIR-625 would not support a wireless connection for any of the 3 laptops in my household after 1 was updated to 10.5.2. The other two are Windows. After reading some of the posts, I disabled N and switched to only B and G connectivity and the problem appears to be fixed.
A very very disappointing update from Apple, considering I have been waiting anxiously for this to come out to fix some wireless instability in 10.5.1.

Folks I am writing to you from my laptop at home while connecting to the internet!!
What I did was pull from my backup using time machine the following kernal:
AppleAirPort.kext
Which is located in /System/Library/Extensions
And made a backup of the one i'm currently using and replaced with the time machine version.
Granted I know it is generally not a good idea to mix and match kernal extensions because you will lose whatever enhancement came with the newer version. But, I don't care, i'm connected and happy.

I have a 17" MBP and a DLink DIR-625 and the new 10.5.2 update has TOTALLY DORKED my home wireless network. If I turn on my MBP Airport it will not consistently connect and within 5 minutes it will totally disconnect AND it will take ALL my other Windows and Linux machines OFF THE DLink and mess up their wireless connections too! I have to turn off the Airport on my 17" MBP, reboot the access point, and reboot the other clients to get things back up and running. Totally unacceptable. I have not tried to downgrade my access point to b+g only (I am in the office where wireless with standard 802.11g on a Linksys WRT54G seems to work, will try the experiment when I get home), but this is VERY LAME. Researching around it seems that 17" MBP seem to have more problems than the others. I had NO PROBLEMS with 10.5.1, so this is definitely related to the 10.5.2 update.

So you are blaming Apple for the fact that your router is apparently going out to lunch?
If you have to reboot your access point, it's a bug in your access point's firmware, not in 10.5.2 per se.

Apparently some of you are not listening! Most, if not all of the respondents have stated that their wireless connection was working before the update to 10.5.2. I have installed the combo update through software update, then re-installed my 10.5.1 from a cloned copy, then downloaded the combo update again through the Apple website and have had the same results twice. "Oddly" enough, when I boot the Macbook from my cloned external HD in 10.5.1, the same hardware works flawlessly.
Don't give me any BS about it being a latent hardware problem, we are talking simply about an Apple problem with this update and nothing else! I am an avid Apple user and supporter and have been since the first Macintosh, but when Apple screws up, let's not be afraid to call them on it. They are not infallible!

Especially when many people reporting the problems have ALL Apple hardware - the wireless router is from Apple, the firmware is updated, etc. It's frustrating to get blamed for using an "incompatible" wireless router. If Apple's currently shipping Airport routers aren't compatible, than what in the world is?

But it's not universal, which is also frustrating.
Many of us are using Apple routers or for that matter are using our systems at WiFi hotspots with no issues whatsoever.
The problem all along with wireless issues is that there are so many variables (802.11b only? 802.11g? 802.11n? b/g compatibility? b/g/n? Open? WEP? WPA? WPA2? Closed? SSID broadcast? WDS? Which firmware? Which hardware revision of the router? Which ISP? How many other WiFi networks are there in the area, and which combination of settings do they use? On and on
) that it's hard to nail down the particular set of circumstances causing the issue.
As has been the case since the very first Leopard thread, if you're experiencing this issue the best thing you can do is notify Apple of the problem - via AppleCare if you have a new machine or have purchased Leopard in the past 90 days, or via bugreport.apple.com if you have an ADC account, free or otherwise, is the best way to do so.
I know it's frustrating, I've been there myself, but the best way to get a solution is to be methodical so that Apple Engineering has the most data possible in order to possibly reproduce it and find a solution.

Right. It´s a problem of the Software Update, which has to be fixed by Apple.
Using WEP or another router is no good solution, when it all worked under 10.5.1.
- Whats the good thing about 10.5.2? How can I uninstall this version and get back to 10.5.1?

Umm, not sure where you are going with this Captain.
It appears that many people such as myself had problems when the 10.5.2 update was applied. In fact, I reformatted and reinstalled 10.5 Leopard from the CD. Wireless was fine on what should be a pristine Macbook. I then immediately (through the wireless connection) downloaded and applied the 10.5.2 update. When I rebooted and attempted to open Safari, I was not able to connect to any websites. I could ping them, but not connect to them. Remember that this is on a pristine Macbook with no other software loaded except for Leopard.
For the record, I have a DLink 625 router and I suspect there is some incompatibility between it and 10.5.2. The problem did not start until I loaded 10.5.2 as I explained in the previous paragraph

I am having the same problem. Westell wireless modem/router. I had to do an archive and install and downgrade to 10.5.0. I called Apple and they said they are aware of many problems users are having upgrading to 10.5.2. They suggested to wait several days until they resolve these issues and then download the 10.5.2 update again. I'll probably wait at least a week or more.
Also not able to connect to my external firewire drive in 10.5.2. Every time I connected it, and fired it up, it kept repeatedly crashing the finder.

I ran into similar problem. I would get a signal--full bars. However, I could not get access. I logged into the wireless router and dropped the fragmentation threshold and the frame threshold to 2306. Now it works great. Fast and connects every time.
Hope this helps someone out there.
