Thanks for trying the test and reporting. I don't know what the difference is here but it's hard for me to believe your in-LAN file transfer problem and our Airport upload speed problem aren't related at some level.

I have a westell versalink 327 from verizon. I simply had to update the firmware to the latest version and my wireless connection worked fine thereafter. thanks for everyone here for pointing me in the right direction.

I also have westell and the same problem. If I open network prefs, select "assist me" and diagnostics, I can select the base station but then get prompted for a password. I plug in ethernet, hit the router and set up encrytion and a password but it still times out.

Here are a couple more tests:

1. Booted my Macbook into 10.4.11 on an external drive; file transfer from my wired iMac to the wireless Macbook is fast as ever, no stalling, no slowing down.
2. With the Tiger Macbook connected wirelessly, switched my iMac to use Airport (instead of ethernet) and tried transferring files from the iMac to the Macbook (i.e., both wirelessly connected to the router); transfer is slow as heck, like 500KB/sec
3. In the above setup, transferring a large file from the Macbook to the iMac is slightly faster, around 1MB/sec, but noticeably, there isn't a complete stall... hmmm.

Right, I've got a Macbook Pro 15", a Macbook Pro 17" and a dual G5 1.8. On the 15" I upgraded to the 10.5.2 today and Voila!, no internet on any computer. Funny thing is that the other two computers were not upgraded but it still affected them. Anyhoo, after upgrading the router firmware from 1.09 to 1.09w which did nothing, I ended up downgrading the router to 802.11b/g it worked again, I've got a DLink DIR-635 by the way.
After seeing a post here I followed the great advice I found here on this thread ( thank you kindly by the way :) and set my fragmentation threshold and the frame threshold to 2306, reset the router to b/g/n and now my router rate is up to 130mbit from the 54mbit the g standard offers and all is well.
For DLink users hook your router up to the computer with an ethernet cable, in Safari write 192.168.0.1 and log onto the router, under advanced you will find wireless and there you can change the frame and fragmentation thresholds, click save, reeboot and happy surfing.

I have the apple airport extreme and have the same dropout problem after 10.5.2 (all was perfect prior to this upgrade). Found that if I change the router to 802.11g, all is well. If changed to 802.11n that also supports 11b & 11g, I get dropouts. Also 802.11n-only at 5Ghz drops out. However, 802.11n-only at 2.4Ghz works perfectly. It appears there are options to get wireless back online, but if you want to run at 11n, 2.4Ghz dedicated to n-only is the only option that will run solid.

I have dir-625 d-link wireless router, and I have been going nuts since upgrading to 10.5.2 with no connectivity in n/g/b mode. I set the router to g/b mode and seemed to work for sometime then after few hours the connectivity starting to slow down. I finally configured the router for b only and the connectivity is super fast again. Apple needs to fix the 10.5.2 update by rolling out the bad code they added that supposedly made the wireless connection much more stable. Leopard starting to feel like Microsoft windows all over again!!! If it is not broken DO NOT FIX IT!!!

Do not blame d-link!! It was working great before.... It still works for my old mac, and other machines at home..

Just because it was working before does not mean D-Link's firmware is not broken.

We don't know who is at fault, but if Apple complies with the standard and D-Link does not, that's certainly not Apple's fault and they should not have to work around bugs in third party code.

If it is Apple's fault, it will be addressed in a future update.

It works...did it on mine and bang! I had perfect performance in 10.5; in 10.5.1 it was come and go connections (the dreaded scanning....); and 10.5.2 was nada...no wireless connection at all.

Changed the RTS and FRAGMENTATION and presto...

jed02 to be upgraded to jediosx! Cheers for the tune-up!

Wow! I don't know how you came up with this, but it worked for me too. My RTS and Fragmentation Thresholds were originally 2346. Once change to 2306 everything connects again. Thanks.

Me too as downgraded from 5Ghz 802.11n to 2.4Ghz network to avoid instability from 10.5.2 update on Leopard.

I have two networks as a mixture of new APPLE AP Extreme and, Airport expresses (dome extreme ), as well on same subnet..

This MACPRO 8core loses connections ot 802.11n 5G network since 10.5.2 update.. in fact noticed this within minutes restartng with 10.5.2.

• work around is to connect this MACPRO 8 core to my 802.11n 2.4Ghz network and is stable.

Possible irritation of 5Ghz 802.11n from Leopard 10.5.2 update???

Any others have this issue?

10.5.2 Leopard update seems very stable on 802.11n 2.4Ghz network.. but not on 5Ghz... (strange)??

I can confirm that this works. See my earlier posting describing how only my D-Link DIR-635 but not my D-Link DIR-655 and DWL-624 stopped working after updating to 10.5.2. I have now changed the fragmentation and frame threshold values to 2306 on the D-Link DIR-635 and it suddenly was up and running again. What is this?
