Since updating, Bluetooth connects to car upon entry but requires me to choose it manually from a menu after I accept the call/ the call is accepted. This is true with a both factory Audi system and a dealer installed Honda system.

Wi-Fi worked for a few days after updating to 3.0. Then one day last week, while I was googling something, it was lost and not seen again. It shows me connected in my settings but it just spins when I try to connect. Devices not running iPhone OS 3.0 are connecting fine.

Finally found a solution to make wifi work again ! It finds my connection & stays connect untill i turn it off ! even auto connects once back from sleep !

Ok this is what u need to do !
1> restart yo0ur phone ! as soon as it reboots get into wifi settings and connect to ur network ! (u can find ur network everytime u restart)
2> now connect to it & then w8 till the wifi logo appers in the top !
3> quicky enter apple app store & download a free app !
4> after then app has been downloaded & installed ! go into ur settings>general>reset>reset your network settings! ( be sure to do all of the above steps & also be sure that while u reset ur connected to wifi & the logo appers on the top)
5> after ur phone resets & reboots go into ur wifi setting & u will be able to connect & stay connect to ur network without any problem !

You can even restore ur phone after its done so that u can clear unwanted files or bugs that came up on ur 1st update !

P.S : ppl who cannot stay connect to wifi soon after reboot should keep trying ! restart a cpl of times it should work !

Reason why this happened !
while your on 2.2.1 (jailborken or not) & u heard that 3.0 is out and then connect ur phone to itunes and clicked on update itunes downloaded the firmware but while flashing the BASEBAND OF THE IPHONE it didnt completely erase the old baseband instade it just overwritten on it ! this is becuase ur phone wasnt in Restore mode(DFU MODE)! people who dont have problem are those who clicked on update and downloaded the firmware and then later ehither clicked Shift+restore or clicked on restore which put ur phone into restore mode and then updated it !

Try it out and let me know if it works or no !

Like others have said... If you are under warranty and your WiFi and Bluetooth were grayed out by the 3.0 update, make an appointment and take it back to the Apple store for an exchange. It is a hardware problem. Good luck.

Well, no, it's not really a hardware problem. And there IS a software fix for it actually (which is in one respect pretty flawed, but it works). The problem (at least in my case) is that your seczone got corrupted, but the wi-fi chip and baseband are still perfectly functional, such things already happened in the ancient times of 1.1.1-1.1.4 firmwares. The fix in those days was to hardcode a new MAC-adress. And this fix still works. I went through pains of downgrading the Phone from 3.0 to 1.1.1, ran the tool which you can find on your own by using google (it's a tool that deals with jailbreak/unlock so I can't post the name or direct link here) and my wi-fi came back to life.

I read at macrumours that sdk 3.1 and OS3.1 beta were released. Anyone who tested it, yet? I am curious if this update fixes the greyed out wi-fi.

Having the same wifi issue than everyone here, I just installed OS 3.1 beta.
Not being a developer, I got stuck on activation, but the baseband was updated.

After a quite painful process I was able to downgrade to 3.0, so now I have 3.0 3G iPhone with BB 05.08.01.

Bad news, the wifi problem is still there.

Might other people have better luck, but I would advice to wait a bit (downgrade is a pain with this baseband) and to not hope too much from this release.

This thread got a bit mixed up. We have two different wi-fi problems discussed here. So what was your's?
[ ] greyed out wi-fi
OR
[ ] bad/breaking wi-fi connectivity

The subject is "No wifi or Bluetooth" and the OP says "greyed out".

Greyed out. Non existent. That's what this thread should be all about.

Me too on almost non-existent Wi-Fi after the upgrade to v3.0.

On these Apple Discussion boards there seems to be some consistency.

a. Go to the web page and enter a problem/request.
b. Apple employees or developers don't read these discussion boards.

Well I can tell you that even entering a ( BUG REPORT ) in the ( Apple Developer Connection ) goes unnoticed.

Ratan's fix method seems to work!!!!!!!!
I did the steps he described and I am connected to my WiFi at home for almost 30 minutes. It is the longest period my iPhone stays connected to a wifi network since the 3.0 update. I will post again if the problem come back later.

Thank you Ratan!!

It seems, to me, to be a software issue. At home I have an Airport Extreme and Airport Express and connecting to the interweb is no problem. At my studio I use a Netgear wireless router and connectivity is pretty much nonexistent (this is leaving aside for now all the other little bugs such as emails being sent half way through typing them, iPod starting up on it's own and CalDAV being intermittent). I'll opefully be able to compare the settings today to see if there is anything glaringly obvious in the configuration that may be causing the problem. If not then it will probably be beyond my technical knowledge to fix.

Hoping for a fix soon, David.

Posted this on another thread and thought I'd put it here as well in case it helps someone.

Well for now it appears to be a RIP issue, my Airport Extreme and Express give me no problems when I connect at home but my Netgear router at my studio was causing me to pull my hair out. So I followed swampdog43's advice above and for now all seems to be working well on the wifi front. I am using a Netgear Router model DGN2000, in the admin under LAN Setup I switched the RIP Direction from None to Both with the RIP Version set to RIP-1.

Hope it helps others.

In my case it can only be a hardware issue that started with 2.2.1.
The wifi is working for a while only after putting the phone to cool down in the fridge.
But it works only for some minutes....

Just a quick follow up to http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=9694567#9694567

Just drove 2 hours to get my new iPhone. Yup. The company that does service on iPhones in Norway sent me a new phone. No word on why though. So the reason for the suddenly missing WIFI is still a mystery to me.

Anyway...the best solution for you if you loose your WIFI on your 3G after doing a 3.0 upgrade is to send the phone in for service. You will get a new without any charge.

But i WOULD like a comment from Apple to why is this happening...

So I have seen a lot of posts about not being able to connect to Wi-Fi, that is a problem I understand. The bigger issue here is the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth that are TOTALLY not operational and can not be activated on the iPhone post OS 3.0 update, that is what I want to see some answers to and also some feedback from Apple, and yet it still remains silent ???
