Adding iPhone contacts to iCloud

This worked for me and I didn't get any duplicates either - bonus! Many Thx Dallas.

I do this very same thing that Dallas mentions but in my case the Merge does absolutely nothing insofar as getting new contacts I have created on my iPhone to iCloud. This is a real pain.

Just worked out my issue. The contacts I have been adding to my iPhone have been going into another group that does not get synced. I have now changed my default contacts account and that should ensure that when I add contacts on my iPhone that they go to the right place.

I've done the following and it worked:

1. Go to mac and open contacts

2. add your accounts where you've saved contacts + telephone numbers (for instance Gmail, Work etc)

3. Import contacts

4. Right click on account in Contacts and choose export Vcard.

5. Save Vcard on your computer

6. Go to icloud.com and sign in

7. Go to contacts

8. click on settings icon

9. Choose Import Vcard

10. Select your saved Vcard

11. Import

12. Now these contacts are on your iCloud account

13. Repeat for other accounts (gmail, word exchagne etc)

14. Now icloud automatically syns on your iphone and all your contacts are on your iphone and in iCloud

I get an error I tried to do your instructions. I'm on Snow Leopard. Could it be a difference in Address Book?

On import into iCloud it said there was a problem reading the vCards.

I tried it several times and in different ways.

Yea! I just did this and it worked perfectly! Now I can see all my recent contacts "on the cloud!" Thank you, Dallas and others! Happy, happy!
