Unable to Watch HD footage from internet

When ever I am watching video from youtube, and switch to the HD versions, my computer chokes up and can't handle the footage. I just skips and jumps.
Here are my specs....what do I need to upgrade to be able to handle HD footage? Ram? Video Card?
Dual 1.8 Power PC
2.5 GB Ram
GeForce FX 5200
Downloaded HD footage looks fine, and HD footage I edit in FCP doesn't give me much of a problem...could it be an internet thing?

How well does it play if you pause the video at the start and let it download the entire video before you start watching it? Your description sounds like it's playing it faster than your internet connection can download it.
You might also want to verify that you have the latest version of Flash installed. You can check your version here. The current version is 10.0.22.87.

Even if I let the whole video download it still chokes up. And I have the latest version of flash. I am also having problems with uploading to my server for my website. Maybe something with opening ports in my router? I don't fully understand how all that stuff works.

Could it be your router, your modem, how those are configured, any ports or services blocked there or from firewall or by ISP...

Hatter,
I think what you eluding too is the heart of many of my problems. Can you recommend any sites with information on this kind of stuff? I don't really understand ports and configuring my router and modem and such. Any tips or suggestions would really help.

From Adobe:
"Mac OS video decoding is ~5 times more CPU intensive than Windows "

Believe it or not, trashing the Flash Player/Shared Objects folder inside of the User/Library/Preferences/Macromedia folder can help performance with web flash content.
Trashing the entire Macromedia folder is also fine.
A new, stripped down version will self generate.
