Cannot split track, right side of track disappears to a pill form

Hi there,
When I drag and drop a file in for editing I have no issues. When I split the track to edit the second half of the track after the split is just a little bubble. It will still play, but I can't see wave forms, I can't edit, and I can't do any more splits. I cannot drag it out with the arrow on the cursor, and adjusting the bar on the left side of the screen to expand the view doesn't work either.
Help?

Are you saying after you do the split that the second half of the region is reduced in size?
(PS, not a great idea to post the same question twice. Better to "bump" it up by replying to your own post. That will put it back at the top of the queue.)
