This is what I did that solved my problem:

Home>Library>Calendars and dragged Calendars to the desktop.
Home>Library>Preferences and dragged the ical plist files (two in my case)
Restarted computer and re-launched iCal.

iCal is working perfectly.

Hope this helps.

Good to hear it worked!

I trashed those items. But to be on the safe side, I'd transfer them to an external HD, disconnect the HD, check that iCal is working OK and then I'd trash them.

This seems to be a problem with these months. I'm having the same issue. I tried trashing the Calendar folder and the preference file (plist) with no improvement. Has anyone else had the same issue and resolved it?

Did you try to create a new account and check if iCal works in the new account?

No but it seems to be back to normal. I trashed the plist and Calendar folder as had been suggested but what seemed to fix it oddly was to check in Preferences and make sure the "Turn On Time Zone Support" in the Advanced tab was ticked. Then I hit the pull down menu in iCal in the upper right corner for America/New York, set it to another zone then switch it back. For some reason that works.

I have the same problem here. If I try to go back from November to October, iCal goes crazy. It started after I switched to Snow Leopard. I live in Southern Brazil (GMT -3) and DST is adopted here. Before the week DST started (October 17), everything was fine.
If I change the time zone to Northern Brazil, iCal starts to work fine again.

I knew it had something to do with DST!

Do you have a MobileMe account? I'm asking you this because I haven't been able to access iCal on MobileMe lately.

Dan

I do have a MobileMe account. And I've had some issues with MobileMe Calendar, although I can access it without any trouble. What I get is a duplicated October 17 and some sync problems (e.g., all appointments between Jan 01, 2010 and Feb 20, 2010 are advanced in 1 hour in iCal and iPhone).
Nothing happens between Feb and Oct (period when DST is not in use).
I've talked to apple support and they told me they were able to reproduce the issue there, setting the time zone on a Mac AND on MobileMe to GMT -3 (Rio de Janeiro).
They said they're working on it.
