I wrote in to my local apple service center and they want me to send in the battery and the replacement will come in at least 6 weeks time. What nonsense. I'll be losing the mobility of my iBook. Ridiculous! Apple, this is not how you should treat your customers.

Well considering its you and 1.8 million other people you have to realize that don't just carry that many batteries in stock, it takes time for them to be ordered, then made and shipped out.

I got the same message when I registered for a replacemene battery, and it came today-little over a week, I believe. Not bad considering the number of batteries that were recalled.
Thanks Apple! Good to go again.

Rome, Italy: battery requested on sept 1, arrived this morning (sept 13); my confirmation e-mail said I would have to wait 4-6 weeks.
On the internet I read of people that made the request on aug 25 and received the battery on aug 31, maybe everythingh will be fast for you too...

I got mine, like others within 2 weeks of asking.
I think they put 4-6 weeks so that people who don't get instantly can't complain, (and also, feel pleased when it comes in half of the claimed time)

I requested my ibook battery replacement on August 25th (Friday) and still haven't recieved mine in the mail. So i'm sure it varies, although AFTER i recieved the confirmation email that it was being processed, the battery serial number changed (the last four digits) so i'm wondering if i will get a replacement at all...

Today is exactly six weeks from when I got my confirmation email saying it would be 4-6 weeks. Still no battery... I can't tell if I'm happy to hear that I'm the exception (yay for everyone else) or if I'd rather hear that everyone else was having the same problem so that I don't have to wonder if there's something particularly wrong with my case...
Anyone know if you can go to an Apple Store and have them look up the status of your battery replacement delivery?

I think that when Apple says 4-6 weeks it means:
Less than 4 weeks for rich countries, 6 or more for the rest of the world!
I'm in the middle of week 5.
No sign of battery on the horizon.
See ya.
