A problem with the logic board (what this is) is a hardware issue which means your screen will flicker no matter what OS you are running. Hardware means hardware...to fix it you need to physically replace the faulty parts (firmware/software cant fix it).

How can you be so sure that this is a hardware issue? If you scroll up, you will see that some people had their logic board/inverter replaced and the problem still persists.

Got the macbook back from repair this morning. having sent it in tuesday morning, the repair was very quick. They replaced the inverter and the heatsink assembly.

The flickering is STILL present. it's just as bad as before. Apple will be hearing from me today.

Anyone with any suggestions?

I see.
2 posts below that also supports your claim.
I still think this is a quality issue with the inverters. Im going to the apple store tomorrow hopefully we can get this squared away once and for all.

I had the same problem, the "Genius" at the Apple store told me that my computer could be sent off, and that the problem was isolated -- though I don't believe it since I see it posted as an issue on here so much.

Run "Software Update" and make sure that you have loaded the "MacBook EFI Firmware Update v1.0". When I loaded that my screen flicker went away.

But before that, A temporary fix was resetting my PRAM (Instructions to reset PRAM):
Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.
Your computer's PRAM and the NVRAM are reset to the default values. The clock settings may be reset to a default date on some models.

OOPS! I spoke too soon. The dreaded flicker is back. I am disappointed with Apple.

For me turning macbook off for a night solved the problem. I used to put notebook to sleep for a night, and reboot it only once a week. After I have started to turn off the notebook regularly, for a longer period of time (night), I have no problems with screen. My friend who bought macbook one week before me (I think from the same series), and who always shuts down computer for a night, have not noticed the problem.
I think that the problem is caused by some kind of electrical charge which is discharging while the notebook is turned off.

The flicker in my screen gets even worst when I turn it on after serveral hours being off. It looks like if the screen needs a "pre-heat" time before work correctly.
Very frustrating :-(

I bought an Apple computer thinking they are better quality. By now the MacBook will be my last Apple computer.
