EFI Firmware Update 1.3 (rippling screen)

GEESE Apple! Can we get our act together? PLEASE!
I should have known better, but I unfortunately trusted Apple yet again, so went ahead and applied the recent MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update 1.3
And as with recent trends, it messed things up. My display began showing rippling lines. Most notable if you tilt the screen up and look from an angle.
I've already had this display replaced (MBP SR 2.2) because of the flickering issue many screens have been having. One problem solved and onto another!
Thanks to users in other forums indicating that resetting the PRAM fixed their problem after updating, mine now appears fine....but who knows what problems may be hidden.
For those with the rippling affect, try resetting the pram (shut down, restart then hold apple, option, p & r, let go after you've heard the start-up sound twice)
Good luck!
And apple...start focusing on your CORE PRODUCTS and stop branching out if you can't keep up your quality. This is getting a little out of hand.

I had this problem.
Reset pram 4 times.
command+option+p+r at boot, and let it boot about 4 times. This should fix it.

I was so ****** when I installed this update and concluded that no update would ever fix the flickering/slow moving bands. Well, the PRAM reset you suggested certainly helped. Seems much better now!

I don't think resetting the PRAM is necessary. This effect first appeared after installing the firmware 1.3 update on my machine, but after a reboot, it slowly faded away and is now gone. (and I hope it won't return...)

Same here. Didn't have any problems with the display (apart from the backlight not being 100% even) but the first boot after the firmware I had the rippling waterlike effect of the display. This just faded after 10-20 seconds and hasn't returned.
Funny thing that this firmware update is supposed to fix this effect, not cause it...
