2 hours of FCP file too much for DVD?
Posted: Aug 8, 2007 2:58 PM

I am trying to condense a football game onto one DVD. I have cut the footage to just under two hours. After compressing for "120 min. DVD", when I "Get Info" on the files; the video is "4.18 GB on disk" and audio is "164 MB on disk". However, when I import these as assets into DVDSP, they seem to total 4.8GB. Is there info added in DVDSP that pushes the limit (that I could streamline)? Or do I simply need to trim footage from the source files and reduce TRT? Thanks

Solved

No, you just need to compress it a little more by lowering the bit rate before you compress it. You should always allow yourself a little bit of overhead.

Helpful

Or you could use a dual layer disc. But in any event, make sure you encode the audio as AC3 (Dolby Digital) to save space for video.

Thanks for the "sound" advice. I used AC audio (128kbps)
and a single pass for the video and I was able to get the right results. Thanks again.
