EncoderServer (Not Responding) and ThumbnailServer (Not Responding)

When I open up iDVD '08 and start a new project, or contiue on an older one, iDVD gets very sluggish. When open up Activity Monitor to see if there is a problem, EncoderServer and ThumbnailServer are not responding. I go to my other Mac to see if there is the same problem, and there is not. I do not know what is wrong, but if someone has the same problem, or if someone knows how to fix this please reply. I need help!
-Thanks

This frequently helps solve some problems. Quit iDVD. Search for the file named com.apple.iDVD.plist and trash it. (A new one will be created next launch of iDVD.) Or look in: User/Library/Preferences. This may solve project loading errors too. Restart and use Disk Utility to Repair Permissions.
You'll need to reset some Preferences.

Okay, I understand what you are talking about when you say delete com.apple.idvd.plist, but would it be okay if you could walk me through the Dick Utility part of your instructions?
-Thanks

Launch Disk Utility from Applications/Utilities. Then select THE NAME of your hard drive. Click the button that says Repair Disk Permissions. I do this at least once a week.
Also, while in the Finder go to Help. Type in repair permissions and see what pops up.

I deleted the .plist, and then I think I Repaired my Disk Permissions, and then I restarted, but sadly, no luck.

Well, it sounds like we're going to have to go a bit further. You should re-install iDVD '08. I don't know how this will affect your current project. My guess is that you'll be able to open it and make some adjustments.
I read here recently that someone implied they could just run the (Custom) installer for iDVD '08 and it would re-install. That's news to me. This is more like what I would expect is needed:

Another person said all they did was go to HD/Library/Receipts/ and remove iDVD.pkg and then Custom install iDVD.

Well, some good news. I used Onyx to reset the LaunchService Database, and then I Reset my Mac. When it started up again, I went into iDVD, but to my surprise it wasn't very sluggish anymore, but the Servers that were not responding before were still not responding. In you opinion, will Apple come out with one big Update for all the problems with iLife '08?

I used Onyx
That may have taken care of part of this:

I hope your solution works for you!

They usually update each app. They just did one for iWeb.

Right, that's kind of what I meant. I meant to say, "Do you think that they will eventually come out with and Update for every iLife '08 App that will fix the current problems with them?" (Hah, that sounds a lot different than what i originally said, but Oh well.
Thanks for all your help!
