Hello

I bought the video adapter named "Dr. Bott gHEAD II " which is not very expensive.
I plug it into the DVI-to-VGA of MacBook Pro 17".
The mac recognized this adapter.
I choose a resolution compatible to the sony projector.
I connect the sony projector to the gHead II.
And it works.
I think that this accessory is very useful for those who have to travel their MacBook pro around the world and have to connect them on projector they did not know.

Hope this helps.
Regards
Paul Lotin

To confirm that this is not a hardware problem. I've booted two macbook pro's (2007 revision with the 8600m gt graphics cards) into Windows XP and Windows Vista Ultimate through bootcamp 1.3/1.4. Started up the projector in a pinch. Running full blast at 1440x900....

This is the first time I've felt apple stumbling... maybe the hardware got a tad ahead of their software/drivers. (e.g. one of the first notebooks on the market with the directx 10 8600m graphics card)

Otherwise the 8600m gt is quite powerful and comparable to the geforce 7800go series from the last generation.
