My Native Instrument's software and ArKaos's software doesn't work after installed QuickTime 7.3.1.
Native Instrument's license management software maybe using QuickTime's Flash support.
ArKaos maybe using QuickTime's Flash support for moving text effect.
I want use these software next weekend's live event.
How can I reinstall QuickTime 7.3.0 ?

Thanks, Rob A.
But these programs maybe call QuickTime's Flash support functions in their program own code.
So, I couldn't launch these programs, because Mac OS X system failure.

My simple tests with other third party viewers is that they have all failed to display my older "working" QuickTime files that contain Flash tracks.
VLC only played the other QuickTime codecs contained in my files and even failed to play the audio portion of the Flash track. At least QuickTime 7.3.1 played the audio.
I'll be forced to convert (using my older OS) and turn my Flash tracks into "video". This would work for those tracks that "play" like video but would fail for the Flash tracks that also include "mouse" actions.
Since most of my files use Flash tracks are simple "buttons" they would no longer work unless I can convert them to "sprite" tracks. Since no good sprite track editor exist (GoLive anyone?) I settled on Flash.
I continue to hold out hope that Apple will work with Adobe and solved the security issues. Meanwhile I get ten emails a day telling me a viewer tried to play one of my Web based files but it didn't work.

QTi has a limited (but workable for simple buttons) sprite creation set up. They haven't had an update in awhile as I'd imagine the changes QuickTime is going through makes for a moving target for any QT developer.

Same here. I'm using Arkaos VJ, and had the shock of the year when I saw that all my SWF-Files wouldn't work anymore. This is just the worst thing that could happen to me right now, since I'm having a live show on New Year's Eve, and the last thing I want to do during my holiday season is re-exporting all my .fla-Files into proper Quicktime-Movies... I have like hundreds of them...
this is really really bad...

Yea this really *****. And with no warning just makes it worse.
My problem is that I use after effects 7.0 at work, and we have demos with linked to tons of media files, many of them .swf files. All of a sudden, now that quicktime doesnt support flash playback, none of these files appear in After Effects. Does anyone know any way around this? The content for these demos are automatically generated by a system in a completely different department, so changing from swf files to something else is out of the question.
Shouldnt apple let people choose whether they want to run Flash movies, when they want to? What was wrong with having an option to check. Seriously. The update did more bad then good.

I'm having the same issue. There was absolutley no warning and now my final cut sequences linked to those quicktimes are all black with audio only. They really need another update that fixes this...

Since QuickTime is behind what a LOT of apps on the Mac are doing, it's limitation is now spread across all apps that use it. So, that functionality in Keynote is gone now.

Hello mbushnell! Can you please describe how you successfully reinstalled QT 7.2?!??!?!?! I've tried multiple times and it keeps telling me that I've got a newer version and can't install it. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. This 7.3.1 update has majorly shagged me! I, like some of the other posts, also use ArKaos which relies 100% on QT's Flash playback.
So at this point, I would be super happy to get back to version 7.2 if you can describe in detail how you accomplished that.
Thank you!!!

We are a digital textbook company that uses QuickTime technology to display Flash movies as animation in Java. With the removal of this feature, it effectively destroys half (200) of the simulations in the textbook and labs going into the Christmas break.
With no effective way for students to downgrade QuickTime on the Mac we have no solution for these students.
Does anyone have any workarounds or methods to identify these as "safe"?

I feel your pain and can only hope Apple restores Flash formats inside QuickTime files. I hope it is only temporary and is restored in the next coming update.
To remove QuickTime 7.3.1 would require an archive and install from the DVD that installed the OS.
None of my Flash tracks work and none show appears as "safe".

How to get back to QT 7.3.0 ????
I got a big Arkaos Show TONIGHT all .swf gone ... DESASTER !!
I just read about the problem and cant believe Apple is doing this
with NO WARNING , NO OPTION and no patch to get back to 7x
So many Programs need that Flash support.Apple: Let the people choose what the want! Give out security warnings or whatever.
I am using Apple so I would NEVER be in a situation like THIS.
Who ever did this at Apple, please call my Customer tonight and explain to him
why 80 % of the Movies cant be played tonight..great!
