Keyboard didn't freeze but couldn't type letters just no's, seemed like no. lock on but no light on, pressed light came on could type caps only, pressed caps lock and could type lower case??? did restart both times fixed it for while, hasn't happened with power cord plugged in. Anyone else get this? Can't figure out if i did something? Mac book 2-3 weeks old. had also just checked for updates, any connection???

Just voted on engadgets.com I Hope it does something. I bought this macbook as well as our 8G nano as first time purchases through apple. I have heard too many good things, I am going to hold out and keep the faith that Apple will resolve this issue.

Aha.. It makes me a bit happy that there are dozens of people who are facing the same issue and so am I.
Well.. I have been facing the same issue. I bought it 3 weeks back. And this dude just freezes and wakes up after 2 minutes or something. I don't know what causes this thing to happen and and how it solves by itself. Completely sporadic and very annoying. This started happening a week after I bought it

So today I call apple. I called them after my keyboard froze. I was put on hold for 10 minutes (waiting for the customer representative to get free) Till then my keyboard jumped back into action. So that dude had heard about this issue but he had his bets it not the operating system. If its the keyboard has to be some hard-ware issue. So he made me shut down my machine, remove the battery, press the power on key (I don't know why, there was no power supply and he knew that) and then put on the battery and re-start.
After that I haven't really faced that issue though, but my bets are my keyboard is just waiting to freeze..

If at all anyone knows why this is happening, let me know. Oh and by the way, I did reset the PRAM and NVRAM. Didn't help.

Same here.

After about 4 days for being trouble free, I lost the keyboard twice yesterday.

The Macbook had been on (or in sleep) for about 3 days and had been on and off the mains. Yesterday I started to notice that the track pad was getting a little temperamental and a little sluggish, and sure enough a little while later I lost the keyboard - right in the middle of typing something.

I was able to get the keyboard back by putting the Macbook to sleep - waiting until I heard the hard drive power down and then restarting.

About a 1/2 hour later I lost the keyboard again. This time I simply shut the lid - again waited until the hard drive powered down - and reopened the lid. The keyboard cam back after a couple of seconds.

I really like everything thing else about the Macbook but I wish Apple would fix this.

In addition to the keyboard freeze (which I am still having), I often seem not to get the first letter when typing. I always thought I am doing something wrong. Engadget.com (in their poll) mentions that as a reported problem. It seems that the keyboard needs a second to respond and by that time the keystroke has passed. Anyone else having this problem? You start typing "start" and you get "tart"

Same thing has been happening more frequently on my MBP, started shortly after leopard install. Keyboard usually works again if I wait about 30 secs.

Update since my previous post.

Returned my MacBook to the Columbia Store (1 week to the day from purchase) and the MacGenius offered to replace my machine. I took him up on it and later installed 4Gig of RAM from Crucial. I also did NOT install the 10.5.1 update. Systems worked beautifully for 10 days until last night - the freeze returned. I'm going to update the OS to 10.5.1 and continue to pray Apple fixes this issue soon!!!
