Well then It would seem, a purchase of the new iLife 08' is the only solution.

Tracy, contact Apple, I'm sure they will replace the files.

Anyway, not having these 2 apps (although a drag) isn't the real problem.
I still haven't solved my original issue....
Since the last Mac auto update, I am unable to mount any dmgs, so can't install ANYTHING.
I get an Error message:
Warning, The following disk images failed to mount. Reason: error 0xe00002c9
Why is this happening and what can I do?
Thanks
Tracy

Nobody here seems to be even attempting to answer Tracy's original question... "Go buy a new copy" is not a reasonable solution.
I just got the same error, but it was after installing some things with Software Update and before rebooting. (It required a reboot, but I was trying to finish some other things first.) I finally rebooted, and the dmgs worked again.
So if you haven't tried it already, I'd try rebooting -- especially if you just did a Software Update.

Try downloading the Combo update of your latest OS in the downloads section, then repair permissions in Disk Utility.

I believe you will need to erase and reinstall the hard drive. When Apple recently gave me a new hard drive, they made a username "apple" and password was blank.
So find the original CDs that came with your laptop (Macbook, iBook, etc). If you need to type in password, it should be blank. Restart the computer while holding C to start up from the disks. You should be booting off the DVDs that your laptop came with.
From the installer, choose the option "Erase and Install" (erases your hard drive and lets you configure everything yourself). It should be self-explanatory.
