Thanks to the earlier suggestion, I think that my problem has been solved.
I downloaded and installed MainMenu. I then used MainMenu to Repair Disk Permissions (which I'd already attempted with Disk Utility) and to Rebuild Prebindings.
I assume the latter step is what worked, because (knocking on wood) I've had no crashes for the last couple of hours. I recommend trying this to everyone who still has the issue.

Scratch that last post--- still having the same problems.
After a trouble-free afternoon yesterday, Photoshop has been crashing left and right. I tried following the same steps again, but it didn't seem to help.

EXACT same problem. Photoshop CS has suddenly started crashing when I save, which is the WORST possible time, isn't it? I hadn't noticed if it was on the third save or not, but that sounds about right. Why has this just started happening? I may have an answer, thanks to some of your posts.... The only thing that's changed about my mac setup recently is that I got a new scanner which uses TWAIN (my old scanner did something else entirely.) I removed the relevant file from the appropriate place and stuck it on my desktop (in my case its called HPScanPro.ds), quit and restarted Photoshop, and the crashes have stopped. Thankfully. However, this is only a partial solution because, uh, I need to be able to SCAN THINGS! So as a workaround I guess can just drag the file back into place when I want to scan, save the scan in Photoshop immediately, and then remove the file again. But that's just silly. I really hope a more workable solution appears soon! A patch of some kind? How does one alert the appropriate person/team who could look into this?
