Having the same problem, down since I woke up this morning...NW Suburbs of Chicago, IL. I was just about to post about this in the "Internet and Networking" forum. Glad to see I'm not the only person having this problem.

I hope AT&T gets their act together soon.

Thanks for this info. I have been having problems all morning in suburban Chicago (and passing through downtown during my commute). It's not even intermittent - I have been totally unable to connect to any Internet services. Same error message: "Could not activate EDGE."

I can't believe they actually told you this might take almost a week to resolve!

Thanks for the update. I'm in Chicago as well and was going out of my mind trying to figure this out. Wonder if we can get some credit from AT&T?

Just got off the phone with AT&T. They confirmed they are having tower/server outage issues across the country (The manager confirmed issues in FL, IN, IL, and MO just to name a few places). They said right now it looks like it will be at least 2 hours before it will be resolved but could be as long as the end of the day.

They mentioned that you could ask for a credit if you wanted, but it's pro-rated (like cable, internet, other services, etc). So since the the data package is 20 a month, the credit is
$20/31 days(jan) = $0.645 per day credit.
So if the issue is fixed by the end of the day the credit comes out to about 65 cents.
