Today i formated the harddisk and installed 10.5 from DVD and the 10.5.1 update.
Wireless is much better and faster now.
I really like 10.5.2 but stable network is first on the list.

Just noticed something strange... it seems to be ONLY Apple related evices that are affected. I did some tests and both my PS3 and Xbox 360 stay online (via the same Airport Extreme 802.11g network) when the Apple TV and computers are bumped off.
This leads me to believe that it is indeed the OS update and not a previous firmware update to the base stations. We all seem to have different base stations with the same issue, yet we all have 10.5.2 installed. Not sure why it only affects Apple products, but they really need to post an update and SOON. I can't make a living like this--I rely too much on large file transfers.

Sorry, updated info:
It may not be affecting my Apple TV directly. I stream all my content from my Mac Pro, so most likely it's just the computer itself losing the wireless connection and therefore disrupting my Apple TV functionality.
More proof that it is probably just the 10.5.2 update.

Me too ... imac has no/little problem but 1 month old macbook keeps dropping out.
Is 802.11g vs 802.11n the difference?
I'm guessing it's not the wireless router as it keeps happening to me when I log onto different routers. It doesn't seem to matter unless whatever is wrong is wrong with all of those different routers (who knows what they are)

I can confirm that this is a "since 10.5.2" problem.
I have two systems -- Macbook Pro and Macbook.
At home I have an Airport Extreme router. The scanning is constant, and none of the suggested things I've seen in forums works for long. I also notice one of the quirks is that if you go through advanced settings, it keeps disabling 802.n login.
Here's the kicker, though. I'm now visiting my Parents in Florida. They have an airport express router. Their system is Macbook, on 10.4.11. It works rocksolid.
My Macbook, same exact positions in the house -- constant scanning.
This is definitely a Leopard 10.5.2 problem. I think the only solution is to downgrade the OS or PESTER APPLE TO FIX THIS THING.

Experiencing the same frustrating "Airport Scanning" w/drop-out problem. Installed 10.5.2 on my MacBook Pro. My wife's MacBook still has 10.5.1 installed. At work, where I have an Airport Express network, I do NOT have this problem on my MacBook Pro, interestingly enough. At home, however, where I have an Airport Extreme Base Station (the older, white b/g compatible "flying saucer" kind), I get the "Airport Scanning" message constantly. My wife's MacBook (again, 10.5.1) does NOT exhibit any dropouts or "scanning" problems.
This is particularly annoying in iPhoto. The scanning is so excessive that iPhoto stalls out completely unless I turn Airport OFF. Once I do, the spinning beach ball goes away and allows me to function in iPhoto somewhat normally, but any iPhoto feature that requires the internet, including Sharing, is rendered completely useless.

Same here. I'm using a Linksys WRT300N on an Intel MacBookPro. Router has the lastest firmware installed. Apple - HELP! - this is serious. Any ideas on how to help troubleshoot this?

I'm still having the issue, but I did find a slight workaround. I changed my router to be 802.11N (use 270 mbps) only. My 10.5.2 macs are still scanning constantly, but they haven't dropped their connection like they were doing before the change. Of course, my poor little PowerBook has been kicked off the network due to this change, but I'm ok with this in the short term. Additionally, my router does have a firmware update, but I have done that yet, probably later this weekend.

This is a SERIOUS, SERIOUS bug.. and it's driving me insane. I can't even watch the TV shows and listen to the music that I purchased from iTunes because I stream my data from the Mac Pro. When the Mac Pro's Airport bugs out, I lose my stream to the Apple TV! I can't enjoy a show without it losing the connection and reloading every 15 minutes or so! (Try getting into LOST and experience these dropouts...) Not to mention I rely on my computer for WORK
INEXCUSABLE for Apple to ignore this! Tech is clueless.. of course they want me to reinstall EVERYTHING. Not gonna happen since it won't help one bit.
