After Security Update today: "Bus error" when starting "ssh" client
Posted: Mar 18, 2008 2:02 PM

Hi,

I'm using OS X 10.5.2 and updated my system with the newest Safari 3.1 and Security Update a few hours ago. After I did this update, I cant use the command-line ssh client anymore. When I start the ssh, I immediately get a "Bus error" on the shell.

Any suggestions?

Thanks, Marc

Yep got the exact same bug.
I'd like a fix soon, without ssh I can't even do half of my work, let alone all of it...

Same here, not just ssh over Terminal, but sftp via various ftp clients.

Please get this fixed...my work can't proceed without a fix.

Disk Utility Permission Repair doesn't do any good either.

I now actually use my Parallels VM to ssh thanks to putty but still...

This is what Crash Reporter has to say:
The application ssh quit unexpectedly.

Guys, in order to get Apple to act on it we need to supply this thread and them with the bug reports.

Please do the following:
Open CrashReporterPrefs (use Spotlight) and set it to Developer
Close it.
Open a terminal and issue an ssh command.
After just a mere second a box with a yellow triangle pops-up with a crash report.
Hit Report.
Copy Paste the Problem Details into this thread then hit Send to Apple to send them the bug report.

LOL Apple made it segfault! NICE. All lol'ing aside, I'm going to go upgrade my laptop (since I won't need to ssh with it for at least 3 weeks) and use it to report the bug in the hopes it'll help this issue get fixed immediately.

If you could then please follow the instructions I posted above to get a Bug Report and Send it to Apple you'd do everyone here a favour.

If you really need a working SSH client now I guess you could get the OpenSSH client from Fink or Darwin Ports.

I figured there were already enough reports and wanted to go to bed. But OK, I tried, but Spotlight doesn't find anything when searching for 'CrashReporterPrefs' though. (My system is set to Dutch.)
