Thanks so much for the single line Terminal fix.....this took a lot of doubt and sweat to accomplish and I had reset every piece of sync history and rebooted all my machines and its one those **** I KNOW HOW THESE THINGS WORK!!!!! bugs which just stop you from moving forward....not because they are life-threatening, but because they eat at your testosterone base....(only a long term Maccie would say this kind of crap)....but it just NIGGLES our sense of "everything fits" with macs...well, not everything fits anymore!!! Thanks for the help!!

Hello Acusc
A couple suggestions I have
1. Ensure your running Mac OSX 10.5.2 so run Apple Software updates and perform all Software Updates
2. Ensure your running iTunes Software 7.6.2.9 for Mac
3. Ensure iPhone is running Software version 1.1.4
4. Reboot iPhone, Try and sync again
5. Try to sync using different USB Ports to see if one has better success then other. Please do not try and sync using a USB Hub
6. Reset Sync History and try again
7. Go to Info tab in iTunes, and check mark Bookmarks, Now attempt to Sync
8. If possible Export your Bookmarks, Create a new user, Import Bookmarks in new user, Then launch iTunes and see if they will Sync. If they do. Go back to original user delete your book marks then re-import them back into Safari. And try and Sync again using original user account.
9. Restore iPhone, and Sync all content again. Please backup all content on the iPhone before restoring.
