[iphone] app crashes when launched (but only the App Store version)

We're hearing occasional reports from users that the distribution version of our app (i.e. the version from the App Store) crashes right away when launched. At least one person has reported this happening with other apps as well, and there have been a couple posts in these forums from other developers indicating similar problems with their apps.
Does anyone have any information about what might be causing this?
... any information about how to debug the problem?
... any suggestions for how to get some sort of meaningful data out of the distribution crash reports that are generated?

I've not had any crash reports, BUT I have seen the iPhone crash when running my app (and possibly others) after downloading from the app store. It just totally resets the iPhone.
My feeling is that this is not app-specific, and that it represents a bug in the OS. I think this because the crash is A) Random, and B) Immediate - i.e. before any of my code would actually be running, it's immediate on pressing the app icon.
I suspect it will require a firmware update to fix.

What I have seen--but only rarely is suddenly the audio control (the one you get by pressing the audio volume control on the side of the phone) will appear while running my app--and then either the phone locks up or it crashes back to the main screen.
My app does nothing with audio.. and I can't imagine what I could do to cause that in my app. It is rare.
I have not played with enough 3rd party apps to see it happen there. I want to think it is the OS crashing.
Sadly there is no crash log from my app either.

Got an email this morning.. Same thing. Said it worked for a few times now it crashes.

This may not be your issue, but I've experienced apps quitting immediately after launch - once it happens for one app, it happens to all.
Rebooting the iPhone remedied the problem each time.

I have heard of problems after the device is restored from a backup. Deleting the application from the device and reinstalling it from iTunes seemed to fix the problem. I have not experienced this first hand though. I have also heard that turning the device off and then back on corrects the crashing problems.

I've had this happen multiple times. It is rather frustrating. I suspect that it's not app-specific, and that there are small memory leaks across all the apps and it just builds up, and once it reaches a certain threshold the phone will restart.
Pretty annoying.

I have a few downloaded apps, all worked flawlessly, then one stopped working and now none will launch.
I have rebooted the iPhone to no avail.
I'm wondering if it was the last app I installed?!
Apps are
. Itunes Remote, first installed worked longest.
. Light saber
. Facebook
. Twitterific
. iPint (Carling)
I have crash logs for all of them, are they of any use? Where do I send them if they are?
Going to try uninstalling them one by one.

Try re-authorizing iTunes before resyncing - it worked for me. Looks like there might be a rights management issue.

I deleted all apps, went into iTunes on my Mac to download the apps from there (as opposed to downloading on the phone itself) and was asked to tick a EULA thingy, I downloaded the apps and synced and they appear to be working now.
Dunno if it was the re-install or a licensing issue (but I assume licensing wouldn't generate a bunch of crash logs with (Exception Type: EXC_BAD_INSTRUCTION messages)

i've gotten this to appear several times...
really annoying as it requires me to restart the phone in order to get it to open...

All of my apps stopped working today. I try to launch and the home screen just redisplays.
I have Lightsaber and My Lists. Nothing seems to work for me based on actions in this chat.

This was the solution for me. I had already synced and rebooted a number of times but nothing worked. I then logged out of Itunes and logged back in...Synced and all seems to be working again... FOr how long...we'll see..
