OK, I'm pretty sure that I figured out how to fix this Calendar problem using other's previous posts. I'm confident the problem is the recurring events issue, especially if they were created in Outlook 2000. So try these steps:

1.) Export your Calendar as a CSV to your local disk (name it somethinig obvious) - Recurring events won't be completely stored but 30 days of them will, so you'll still have your original event that you can make recurring in step 5 below.

2.) Delete all of your Recurring Events. Don't worry about losing them since the original event will still be in your exported CSV file.

3.) Import your CSV file and choose the "Do not import Duplicate Items" in the Import wizard,

4.) Perform a Calendar Sync only (not contacts to save time for testing) choosing the "Replace information on this iPhone" checkbox at the bottom of the Info tab for Calendar. Verify that your iPhone now has Calendar events.

5.) Go back into Outlook 2003 or 2007 and open up an event that you previously had set as recurring. Click the Recurrence button at the top and set your recurrence schedule. This event will now be added and you will still see 30 days worth of the original event not in Recurrence format because of the CSV import. Delete the original one so you only have your recurring event so as to not have two of the same event.

6.) Repeat step 4 above and hopefully your iPhone Calendar will now be completely in synce with Outlook.

I tested creating and deleting events in both my iPhone and Outlook and all looks fine now.

I hope this works for everyone else because I wasted a ton of time on this today.

That sounds fine for people that dont have meetings with multiple attendees but you're knackered if you do....

As I'm knew to Apple....how would then announce a resolution to this issue ? I notice that other users have logged a call and its on a 5day or possibly 2day turnaround....but do they trawl through all these logs and update them or just release a fresh version of iTunes (in this case) and trust 'normal' people to update the logs ?

Cheers
Chris

I agree. With me happily syncing with O2003 since I got my original iPhone in November, how can the problem NOT be with either iPhone 2.0 firmware or iTunes 7.7?

applebruce - your method works 100% - i also got rd of that annoying "home" calendar at the same time too.
To other users - its quite simple if you want to get your iTunes 7.7 up and running - follow applebruces steps. I didn't even delete the events, i just reimported them with the "Do not import Duplicate Items" option checked in the import wizard.

Other good news is that once this is done, the full sync is as fast as before, no more of these 5 minute syncs.

I've tried the listed fixed with still no luck. It seems to be an issue with the version 2.0 firmware update on my 1st gen iPhone. Contacts are there, NO LUCK WITH CALENDAR.

I agree with others, where I can't (and won't) delete recurring meetings as these are often scheduled by other co-workers, with many other attendees.

One additional problem that I am seeing, is that when resolving conflicts, the process hiccups partway through with an error window that says "Unable to retrieve from synch server. Please try again next time the conflict resolver window is presented."

Anyone else seeing this error window? And who's synch server is it anyway? Is my information on my calendar going to Apple?

Have tried ALL listed gyrations without positive affects.

Per Matt_G's response, you may not need to delete your recurring events, and just do the export/import. If you do delete your recurring events after your export, then do the import, your recurring meeting schedule by someone else will still be there, just not in recurring mode. You can open that meeting and click on Action, choose Recurrence, and then set the Recurrence schedule back to what it was originally. I tested this and was able to set the Recurrence on a meeting sent to me by others.

Good Luck!

Tried your fix Bruce - no luck. I have an original iPhone and updated like many here. I even tried restoring the iPhone to the original settings and lost all calendar entries so am now entering them manually.
Hopefully, Apple will come up with a solution SOON!!!!!

I'm having the same problems as everyone else in this thread. My contacts in Outlook 2003 sync flawlessly but there is no method that has worked yet to get my calendar to sync. I hope that Apple has a fix for us soon!

I failed to mention that I tried both the iPhone 2.0 Update restore file for the "old" iPhone (which I have) in which the file is named _iPhone1,1_2.0_5A347_Restore.ipsw_ (notice the 1,1_2), and the iPhone 2.0 Update restore file for the iPhone 3G _iPhone1,2_2.0_5A347_Restore.ipsw_ (notice the 1,2_2). I did this by downloading these files and then holding the Shift button (Windows) down and clicking the "Check for Update" button on the Info tab in iTunes. I am currently running the iPhone1,2_2.0_5A347_Restore.ipsw (3G) restore file and things are working better than when I used the "official" restore file for the classic iPhone. I also find that iTunes recognized my phone much more quickly with the 3G version. That may also have something to do with the syncing now working for me.

Be aware that the restore will of course erase all of your data.

AppleBruce,
Can you PLEASE make the "higher-powers-that-be" aware of these issues with the iPhone and Outlook calendars?
