My Optical Drive will not eject/door will not open..

Ok, not sure why.. but all of a sudden, the eject button on my keyboard will now allow my Drive door to open and the tray to slide out. I tried to remove the drive and manually push the eject button and that worked. I placed a DVD in and it read fine, and I was even able to eject it using the keyboard eject button, but when I went to close the drive after this successful eject, it would not close!!!
Do I need to re-install the drivers? is there a config issue, any ideas?
thanks
Sam

Ok, answered my own question, for the info of anyone who might experience this problem... here it was:
I removed and re-installed the drive while cleaning the computer out of dust (I used compressed air).. When I reinstalled the drive, I didn't plug in the drive into the 2nd part of the cable, but instead I did the first part which is intended for drive 2.. the power cable interestingly is meant to go the other way.. go figure!

Could you please clarify this a bit more? I'm having similar problems after replacing the drive in our G5.

The top optical drive should use the connector at the end of the flat cable.

Ah--I don't think the ribbon cable on this machine has more than one connector. Thanks though.
