Right USB Unreliable After Reboot

This is an issue that seems to have come out of nowhere and is very annoying.
I rebooted one time a few days ago, and this problem has been happening since. I normally use my Macbook Pro in closed-lid mode while attatched to a monitor, and a USB hub that plugs into the right hand USB port.
Plugged into the hub (which is powered), is a powered external HD for time machine, a non-powered WD Passport HD for my iTunes library, and a keyboard + mouse.
After my computer boots up, no USB devices are responses. I can't type in my login password or move the mouse as neither work. I have to open the laptop and use the internal keyboard to log in. Once logged in, still nothing works. Unplugged and re-plugging in the Hub does not work either. I get the following message in the console:
4/9/08 6:10:14 PM kernel USBF: 187.537 AppleUSBEHCI0x3d99000::Found a transaction which hasn't moved in 5 seconds on bus 0xfd, timing out! (Addr: 0, EP: 0)

4/9/08 6:10:45 PM kernel USBF: 218.576 AppleUSBEHCI0x3d99000::UIMCreateControlTransfer - allocateTDs returned error e00002e2
4/9/08 6:10:57 PM kernel USBF: 230.379 0x50e9500 The IOUSBFamily is having trouble enumerating a USB device that has been plugged in. It will keep retrying. (Port 1 of hub @ location: 0xfd100000)
These repeat over and over. The only way to get my devices to work again is to unplug everything from the USB hub and plug them back in one at a time, and everything works fine. However this is very annoying to do after every reboot.
I should note that the devices and the USB hub are all tested and working on another (Vista Desktop) computer.
Is something wrong with my USB port? I don't think power should be an issue because the hub itself is powered, and things work if I plug them in one at time, but I never had to do this before.
Sorry for the long post, thanks for any help.

I'm having a similar problem trying to read an SD card inserted into a USB card reader:

USB keyboard attached to the other USB port (through a Cinema Display) works fine. The card can be read fine on MacBook.

Hey there,
When I restart my Macbook Pro I have to unplug my USB hub on the right hand side or my computer will just hang at the white screen when it first turns on. Once I unplug the hub the computer boots, and once it gets to the log on screen I can plug in the hub and everything works fine. Has anyone found a fix for this yet?? It's pretty annoying because it also happened randomly and hasn't worked properly since.

My guess is that this isn't a problem you need to worry about - it often seems to happen to me with the Mac Pro after a reboot too, and by a process of elimination (unplugging each device attached to my powered USB hub until the problem reports stop) it seems to be my Canon scanner that's causing the problem. Unplugging its USB cable, leaving it for a few seconds then plugging it back in seems to cure the problem, and I haven't seen any other symptoms or side-effects. In my case, the error report refers to port 3 on the hub, and sure enough, that's the scanner.
4/9/08 6:10:18 PM kernel USBF: 191.380 AppleUSBHubPort: Port 1 of Hub at 0xfd100000 reported error 0xe00002ed while doing getting port status (4)
What do you have plugged in on port 1 of the hub? I suspect that's the only device you need to unplug & replug.
