Here's a page with some basic info. It's not complete but it gets you started.

http://www.wyodor.net/Dreamweaver/

Also look at the Contribute page. It has more details.

Will work on more explanation.

The WebDav part still doesn't work. I tried your URL and then I tried:

http://www.me.com/idisk/Username/Web/Sites/name of folder/

error says an FTP error happens and I do not have access to WebDav, etc. Any ideas?

On neither page I see a URL http://www.me.com/idisk/Username/iWeb/Sites/

And iDisk doesn't use FTP but WebDAV. It is displayed in both images.

Below is an image from the Dreamweaver page. And below that from the Contribute page

Note: The folder has to be there. It isn't created by setting up the connection.

UserID and SomeFolder are your variables. Can't be that difficult.

Thanks I tried again exactly as you wrote but I still don't have access to WebDav and so I'll check with Apple to see what the problem is. Appreciate your help, kate

Are you using a recent version of DreamWeaver? I believe that earlier versions didn't handle WebDav. In this case you would export to a folder on your Mac, and then manually upload to your iDisk.

Hi Roger, yes I just bought Dreamweaver and it has WebDAV settings but can't seem to get it to work right for some reason. I might try to upload manually but I'm mainly having problems getting access to the online server. kate

The server settings would be:

for your Sites folder
idisk.mac.com/username/Sites

for your Web/Sites folder
idisk.mac.com/username/Web/Sites

Your username is without the '@me.com'. I notice wyodor has included the http:// at the beginning - I wouldn't have expected to use this, but you could try both ways.

You should not use the latter if you are also using iWeb unless you are clear about how to make them play nicely together. You can use 'Personal Domain' with the latter but not the former.

I made screenshots of the whole ritual.

I use Dreamweaver 8 (MX 2004) and Contribute 3.

It's the same login prcedure is with the Connect to Server (Cmd-K) command in the Finder.

Here's a blog entry and an article from many years ago that explain the same thing.

Thanks Roger and Wyodor, I'm not getting access to the idisk server through these actions (although I get through to the sites by the web) so I'll try and see what the access problem is. kate

Does command-shift-i mount your iDisk on the desktop? If not, check that your username and password are correctly set in System Preferences>MobileMe. If they appear to be OK, change them to some rubbish, which will be rejected, and then re-enter them.

Roger and Wyodor, Thank you so much for all your help. I finally got access to the WebDAV server and also could put a file on my mobile me. Here is the draft: http://web.mac.com/katefh/Research/Research1.html
What was happening a lot was the cache was stuck on previous things I was doing. Mobile Me has a website too for doing this: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2637 but I found both your advice extremely helpful for step by step. kate
