Panasonic DVCPro HD importing from miniDV tape with USB

I have a Panasonic DVCPRO HD camera I checked out from my school and i recorded on it with a miniDV tape, NOT a P2 chip!
I want to import my recordings onto my mac, but the only chord i see on the entire camera is a small USB port. So i connected the camera to my computer with the usb cord, but the computer won't recognize anything attached to it when i go to log and capture it in Final Cut Pro
If there are any details you want me to tell you that i haven't mentioned let me know, cause i really need to capture this stuff fast!
Macbook Pro
Mac OS X (10.5.4)

Not knowing the specific camera model, I would guess if you shot miniDV you got SD video. Don't think you can capture with USB. If you can't capture with the camera, you will need to find a DV deck or another DV camera with firewire.

Looks like your only option is Analog Component Out or you will need to find a deck that is compatible with the camera codec and frame rate. The USB is for file transfer only and you didn't use P2. Look again for a FW port cauz that's what you will need to grab with your Mac.

You can't capture via USB...you need to do this via FIREWIRE. There is a small firewire port in the back on the right near the power switch. Small 4 pin connection.
You will also need a 4 pin to 6 pin firewire cable.
