iTunes 8 Smart Shuffle?

Has Smart Shuffle been dropped from the Preferences-> Playback

I managed to find shuffle on the controls for Album/Song/Groupings.

Thanks

It looks like Smart Shuffle is gone from the preference pane in iTunes 8.0.

However, on Apple's website, there is a page (http://www.apple.com/itunes/features/) that includes Smart Shuffle among iTunes 8.0's features and specifically mentions that the feature is included in the Playback preference pane (though I don't see it there).

However, I did a little testing and it seems that my shuffled lists are behaving as if my Smart Shuffle preference is still set at "less likely," meaning that you would be less likely to hear back-to-back songs from the same album or artist.

Is "less likely" now the iTunes 8.0 default? Is it working for me because that's how I had my settings adjusted in iTunes 7.7.1? Or is the Smart Shuffle function still working in a setting in some far corner of iTunes 8.0 that I can't find?

This is one of those features I like(d) about iTunes. It is one that I wish had been on the Apple TV, too. I hope it's not gone.

Yeah, does anyone know if you can still set Smart Shuffle preferences somewhere? Since I've upgraded to iTunes 8.0, shuffle is constantly playing the same artist back to back all the time, and it's driving me crazy! Did the iTunes development team just forget to include this option?

My iTunes also seems to be behaving on a "slightly more likely" setting, which is what I had set it to in version 7.7 before upgrading. I'd like to change this value, but I can't find where or how...

It took a while, but the now-nonexistent Smart Shuffle has been removed as one of the features in iTunes 8 on Apple's website:

I don't thank Apple to suppress this function. Grrr… It was so cool to change "the percentage of shuffle", folowing the mood…

Precisions: Living in France, I don't have all the names of the Menus in English: So for me the iTunes menus are 1- iTunes / 2-Fichier (File ?) / 3-Edition (+Edit ?+) / 4-Présentation / 5-Commande (Controls?) / 6-Store / 7-Avancé (Advanced) / 8-Fenêtre (Window ?) / 9-Aide (Help)

I listen all the time my music with Party Shuffle and the only way I have found to access Shuffle parameters is to go in the Menu "5-Commande (Controls?)" in Menu Bar and choose > Shuffle and after one of the three categories (in French: Morceau/Album/Regroupement). It will define the next Shuffle playing once updating the Party Shuffle list or in the Library. But no more specific changes from High to Low as before.

I had the Smart Shuffle set to "more likely" and now that the slider dissapeared, I am still getting this "more likely" function, which is really anoying. How can this be solved? Isn't there a way? Why does Apple does this type of "micorsoftish" things?

Like others, I had, at the time I upgraded to iTunes 8, set smart shuffle to "more likely." Now I'm plagued with hearing the same artists at a VERY high rate of repeat.

Please, someone from Apple, address this here. I'm looking for another music player.

I've been hearing 3-4 songs by artist A, 2 by artist B, one by C, 2 by A, and so on. It's really frustrating because I put some playlists on random for a reason, they work better. When you hear an entire 12 song album from one artist in a 22 song span from a source of 500+, something is broken...

I hope someone at apple hears this and fixes it in an update to iTunes cause its really annoying.

This is typical of Apple and is the very reason I'm desperately trying to find an alternative to iTunes on Windows. The program is great for me as a Shuffling mp3 player over our network, but Apple constantly annoy me with these stupid changes.
1. Why would you remove the Smart Shuffle feature? It worked so well.
2. If you must remove the feature, then stop the player using the settings from older versions! Your loyal users are now stuck with a old feature jammed.

Has anyone cracked open the ini file or reg settings for iTunes to allow us to alter Smart Shuffle?
