Problems deleting mail from .mac account

Whenever I try to delete mail from the .mac account on my Mac I get the following error message:
The message “name of email” could not be moved to the mailbox “(null)”
The destination mailbox “(null)” does not allow messages to be moved to it.
The deleted message then reappears in the inbox. However, if I go to MobileMe and delete the message it does disappear from the inbox and is moved to the trash. Switching back to the Mac and the message has not deleted from there, but is still in the inbox.
Also, in the list of trash mailboxes on my Mac there isn't one for the .mac account. Three others exist for my other accounts with the trash can icon, but the trash for the .mac has a MobileMe icon next to it and a drop down arrow (although nothing drops down when you click it).
I have re-synced with MobileMe but nothing has changed. Anyone got any ideas?

I am suddenly having the same issue in mac mail. Giving me an error message "email name cannot be moved to the mailbox null" "Destination mailbox null does not allow messages to be moved to it" I have no idea what mailbox "null" is. This just started happening a day ago... Any suggestions?

I was having this same problem. When I expanded the trash (clicked that arrow next to it) I noticed that the problem email account had a different icon. I deleted the email account and re-added it (it was IMAP so I lost nothing) and problem fixed.

I deleted the mailboxes in my trash and still have the same problem deleting messages. For some reason, I can delete messages on my iphone without a problem. Any other tips?
