periodic Dual-link display problem with new adapter

I don't yet know what conditions cause it but I'll be working with my MacBook Pro connected to my 30" display when the screen "shifts" and then becomes practically unreadable. I have to disconnect the adapter and reattach it. The photos below show a detail of the problem and then how it looks after reconnecting the adapter.

Here are two movies showing the problem.

I have not yet called Apple, but has anyone else seem reports of this?

It is now day 2, and I also experienced the same problem. All of a sudden it went all fuzzy on me. I unplugged the mini displayport and plugged it back in. It seemed to fix itself, but then had issues again. After I unplugged the USB piece and plugged it back in, it was fine.

Exact same problem here as well (Dell 3007WFP 30"). Additionally, if I turn the monitor off/on instead of unplugging the USB or display port connector, when it comes back on there's massive visual static over the whole screen.

I have a similar issue. Mine is a 30" Apple display. I have a 'flicker' every-so-often. Maybe once every 15 minutes? Hour? The display disappears then immediately back - less than 10 frames. Certainly tolerable, but not the best. I have shifted to powering via an external USB power brick - makes no difference. Sounds like a critical timing error. But I'm seeing it on an all-apple set up which may give some hints for other displays.

I'm having exactly the same issue, horizontally shifted lines and then static if I power cycle the screen. The noise is very similar to the flickering, too. Essentially, every other vertical line is static, rather than picture. Seems pretty intermittent, and not related to activity or heat. Interestingly, sometimes the screen "flickers" a little and doesn't get distorted. Sometimes it does. Its extremely annoying, because unplugging the adapter causes open windows to change suze and location.
I plan on contacting Apple about the issue soon, has anyone else had any luck?

That´s it, i´m officially canceling my pre-order for the dual-dvi cable. This is ridiculous. I´ll accept the fact that Apple screwed up and that I can´t get my 30" working with this macbook pro.
I´m surprised they can get away with this kind of behavior. They took away my matte screen, and made sure I couldn´t even use my 30" matte screen. Thanks Steve.

Has anyone had luck with exchanging for a working adapter or are they all causing this issue?

I don't think exchanging the adapter will do any good.

Exact same problem here.. (and same fuzzy screen after powercycling monitor , dell3007wfp)
how could this not have been found?
Did they just know they had a lemon and just shipped anyway due to the ridiculous delays?

Here is a data point for you. I do not see any distortion and have used the adapter for about 40+ hours with a new MBP 15" and 6+ hours with a new MBA. this is with a 30" ACD. Here is my setup. Powered USB hub->ACD 30"->Dual Link MDP Adapter->Powerbook MDP. So either some adapters are bad or as some others are posting it might have to do with the usb hub (especially powered ones). If you have a 30" ACD then you might try going through the monitors usb ports first and from monitor to adapter.
