Cant Uninstall Safari 4

Ok so im not really a Mac user , im trying to figure this out for my sister. She had installed Safari 4 but then it didnt work with Hotmail for some reason, anyway she had removed all of the safari 4 downloaded file and the icon from the dashboard and now when we try to install safari 3.2.1 it says "You cannot install Safari on this volume.This volume already has a newer version of safari installed" . Tryed using the finder to locate any files from safari 4 but nothing comes up. And now theres no way to access the internet to download the safari 4 again to use the Uninstall..

Hi,
The original Safari 4 download package included an uninstaller to revert things. Re-download Safari 4 and run that if she no longer has the original download.

No... that's not right - there's no uninstall in the installer....just checked myself.
G4 MDD Dual 1.0GHz 2GB RAM + Quicksilver 800 Mhz

Erm, I think you'll find it was correct when I posted about it 3 months ago and when talking about Safari 4 Beta

I had the same issue as you, I was using Safari 3.2.3 for Leopard and it was fine. I opted to try the finished Safari 4 but I found that you just cannot drag it and uninstall it. You need to do the following:
1. Download Pacifist and open the Safari 3.2.3.dmg
2. Look in the Resources tab and look for a file called Payload
3. Extract "Payload" to your desktop and unzip it, it won't show up as zip but you should be able to unzip it. If not, press Enter and add .zip to it and save it with the .zip extension.
4. After unzipping the "Payload" folder you'll need to replace the files in the folders in the exact area on your system. So you navigate to one of the folders and only erase what is in the "Payload" and replace the "Payload" version of that file to where you erased it from, and so on until all your "Payload" files have been put into the system to their respective places.
5. Repair you disk permissions and reboot your machine.
6. Run Safari 3.2.3 installer and it should run without having to ask you where it will be installed.
7. After the installer finishes, you'll need to reboot.
8. Enjoy, there's nothing wrong with 4 but I don't think it's quite ready yet. For me it seems to be crashing from page to page. It looks like some sort of memory problem. But 3.2.3 is working fine and has been.

If reinstall safari 3.2.1 what happens to bookmarks?

Hunter- Followed the discussion thread as suggested, thanks so much. I want to uninstall safari 4 and use 3.2.1 instead (no side-by-side).
I have pacifist. If I install the "Contents of safari.pkg" entirely will I lose my bookmarks? If so how do I reinstall the bookmarks into my new version of 3.2.1? I don't have a bootable version of anything with me (am traveling abroad). Do I export the bookmarks .html, and if so where do they then go?
Most appreciate any assistance
