Screen saver Preference Pane Lockup

I recently just bought the new 13" Macbook Pro, I ran migration assistant and copied everything from my old mac to my new mac. All was well except that I had to delete and reinstall Garageband due to missing files, that was no problem.
I noticed my screen savers have not been coming up, so decided to set it up in Sys Prefs. However, when I go to the screen savers pane, it locks up. I ran Console and it says about Throttling respawn in 10 seconds. I also ran MainMenu and verified my Sys Prefs, and it found a corrupt iPhoto mosaic screen saver file, so i removed it. But this hasn't fixed it. I have also tried removing the Sys Prefs plist files from /library/preferences/ and restarting to no avail. One thing I have noticed is that it claims that i have no iTunes artwork on that screen saver if I can get to it before it crashes, and the iPhoto screen savers have been missing since before I removed the corrupt file. It's starting to look like a reinstallation of Leopard and iLife is in order, but i was wondering if anyone else had any ideas?
Many Thanks in advance guys!
Oh and does Migration Assistant usually cause this much hassle? I'm starting to wish I had only checked Documents, Music and Photos!

Have you removed the screen saver preference file from the ~/Library/Preferences/ByHost location?

Ok, just ran a little test as I had a sneaky suspicion the iLife browser wasn't there, and low and behold its not. Wouldn't be so bad, but iLife isn't easy to reinstall unless you delete all files first... Now I really wish I hadn't used Migration Assistant!

Just tried that and restarted, still locking up although I tried before I restarted and it seemed a little more responsive, but after restart exactly the same. I'm guessing Migration Assistant has caused it to loose all the ilife support files and some others such as the iTunes screen saver, they work perfectly well on the old mac though, thanks for trying though!

Ok phoned Apple, tried creating new username and still locks up. I did an upgrade reinstall of leopard and still no go, so really am stumped now. I really don't want to do a fresh install but my old mac is still as I left it, so perhaps I could use Migration Assistant again just without Applications being transferred. Any tips on how to use Migration Assistant?

Yeah, perhaps try to do a fresh install then just copy your home folder over. You really don't even need to use migration assistant for that.

I'm having the same problem. I first noticed something when my screensaver claimed I had no album artwork. I too tried deleting the Sys Pref plist files from ~/Library/Preferences and from ~/Library/Preferences/By User. It did not work.
Could you update this thread with whether or not re-installing iLife solved the problem? Thanks.

Hey, just reinstalled iLife, has done nothing... But, now when i run Console.app it says please update coding for ilife media manager, i have all the latest updates for iLife too. I also have no access to my iPhoto photo's therefore I'm guessing its the media manager. It's actually getting to the point where a clean install is becoming my only option.

I don't have access to iPhoto photos either (such as in Mail's photo browser).
My Console displays the following message:
Call to deprecated method ILApertureMediaManager::init. Please update your code to use ILApertureMediaManager::sharedManager:
If you do a clean install, let me know how it works, and what options you selected when re-migrating files. Also, I don't have my old system around, so if I do a fresh install, it will have to be from a Time Machine backup, or a cloned version of my current system.

Exactly the same here! We obviously have the same issue, I'm going to find the media browser files and remove them, then replace them as i noticed they are dated back to march even though I just reinstalled iLife, will let you know how it goes!

Hey, tried with no avail. Still getting:

It appears as if, media browser will not work due to something else being outdated. Makes no sense!
I think I will ring Apple tomorrow to see if I can get anymore help regarding the problem, hopefully now that I know it's the media browser that's out I can tell them and help them some more. I will let you know how I get on.

I did it!!!!!!!
This is how:
First off get your second install cd, with the ilife bundle, i'm presuming you have ilife 09.
Now go to finder and delete this folder: /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/iLifeMediaBrowser.framework
This is the media browser, I had 9.0.3 before I deleted.
Next up, go get Pacifist from: http://www.charlessoft.com/
Using pacifist open your optional installs package on your CD. then go down to ilifemediabrowser part of the package and select install. It will ask for your password. After it has installed try out something that uses the browser. You now have the older version of the browser.
I'm going to update to 9.0.3 through software update, and see how it goes. All is working very well atm, so I really hope this works for you too. I'll post back to see whether its actually 9.0.3 that's doing this.
EDIT: Works! Let me know if it goes ok and shoot me a message if you need help. I think we updated our media browsers before and migration assistant managed to screw up the media browser somehow. Either way before I did this I did reinstall leopard and iLife, but i don't think you will need to. Good luck to anyone out there with this problem!

Worked for me too. By the way, I had two iLifeMediaBrowser.framework folders, the regular one, and one with "(old mac)" after the folder name.
Thanks for the help.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I discovered iPhoto slideshows weren't working, so I deleted the ilifeslideshow framework folder, and reinstalled it with pacifist and it's fixed it. Just thought it might be helpful. Hopefully this will be the last time I get another issue with ilife lol.
