Poor Battery life after 3.0 update

my iphone 3G finished updating at 2 am in singapore, then i unplugged it. i play around for two hours and then go to sleep. It still has around 3/4 of battery power when i went to bed at around 4am.
when i woke up at 8.30 am, my alarm just snoozes twice. then the battery went dead.
It last only around 6 hours...
Anybody experiencing any poor battery problems??

In addition to that, when i charge my phone through itunes, after the battery charged up to 1/4 full, then i can see the fully charged icon on my iphone.
there is no charging icon in the itunes either. anyone has similar problems?? please help.. thx

I could not charge my iPhone!! it's connected but, it's not charging!! please HELP...

I completed the iPhone OS 3.0 upgrade about 5 hours ago. My battery was fully charged at the time, about an hour ago the battery was reporting 20% charge, so in 4 hours it drained 80% of the battery. Additionally I noticed that the phone constantly felt warm in my pocket. I had noticed prior to the upgrade that prolonged use of the phone would cause it to heat up, but this was now happening even while I had the phone locked.

Same problem here, My phone seems to be using about 10% per hour.
I do have push setting on for contacts & calendar, but I have always used this. At this rate my battery is going to be depleted by lunch time.....

No charging here also, tried on mac and wall. Green indication light shows charging but still in red after 2 hours.
Still have my old 2g as backup.

Update, after powerdown and reboot iPhone now shows full power.

I have the same problem with iphone 2G. After updating to 3.0 the battery life is very short. It consumes 5%-10% an hour.
If you hold the phone near a Speaker then you can hear the phone is constantly transmitting on the GSM radio.
Things seem to improve when I switched the push notifications for my google sync account to manual. The continual transmissions stopped.

I installed the 3.0 firmware update yesterday. After unplugging it from the charger the phone died within 45 minutes. I attempted to charge the phone, but it will not charge the battery anymore.
I did a restore from backup of my iphone via iTunes last night, then charged the phone all night. When I took it off the charger this morning the battery is at half life. Please help!

I am having some issues as well with battery life since the 3.0 update. Updated to 3.0 and charged the phone to 100%, went to sleep and when I woke up (6hrs or so), it only had 20% battery life remaining... Like some of the other posts on here, my phone does feel warm even when its not in use. Any idea whats going on?

Same here after I updated to OS 3.0. I was at work with my phone in my locker, I took a break and saw that my phone had gone from 90% battery life to 35% without me even using it. It also feels a lot warmer now compared to before the update. Hope Apple takes of this soon. Glad am not the only one with this problem.

Same here. Turned off Push Notifications and battery is still draining. I had a full charge at 6:00 AM and it is now about 9:50 AM and I got the 20% battery remaining warning. It also feels much warmer.

I am glad to hear some other people have my exact issue. After 3.0 batter life has been increadibly short. After a full charge last night, and very light to normal use today, battery was giving < 20% warning before noon. Prior, I could have easily gone until 11pm or later. Tried all the tricks listed above, with only minor improvements. Has anyone found the issue or fix? Can we get some media on this, like Engadget?

same problem - didn't change any of my settings from 2.2.1. Battery dead after 2 hours from full charge. If anyone knows of a fix from Apple, please post!

when the iphone 3g os 3 is next to a speaker, the speaker makes noise all the time
probably this is what drains the battery so much faster
probably the made this change to correct the dropped calls complains
