iPhone 3G ringer volume issue after 3.0

Hi,
Is anyone else having this problem? I updated my 3G to 3.0 software the day the software came out, and at least 10 times since then, the ringer volume, at random (it seems), will adjust my ringer volume down to 1 bar, which is basically inaudible. It also seems that it doesn't vibrate all of the time now.
Very frustrating because I'll look at my phone and see that someone tried to call me several times and I didn't hear any of the calls.
Thanks,
Stephen

Yes I have the same problem after 3.0. The ringer symbol appears on screen without request and then proceeds to turn itself down to one bar. It stays on screen until I switch the ringer totally off off and back on. It almost always occurs if I "shake" the phone.

I'm seeing the same problem with my 3G, though mine vibrates every time the ringer icon comes up. It was happening so much yesterday that the phone was unusable and I had to turn it off most of the day. I restored the phone last night, saw the ringer icon come up unannounced shortly after, but so far it seems to be behaving it's self.
The other problem I was having was the "slide to power off" page randomly popping up. I powered the phone on and off several times, but that didn't seen to be a permanent fix. Like the ringer problem, when this starts happening it's pretty persistent. Hopefully the restore will help.

Unfortunately, restoring my iPhone didn't help. It's still almost constantly cycling between the poweroff and ringer messages to the point where sometimes I can't even make a call or text. Next I'll try reverting back to the old software if Apple supports that. Otherwise I don't have a cell phone.

I just had the same issue.. started today when I got a phone call the volume suddenly dropped to zero. Every 3 minutes or so after that the volume kept dropping to zero unless I unplugged my headphones. Unsure what is going on.

Actually now the volume drops at random times with or without headphones. I thought it might be movement sensitive, so I left it on the table for a while. During that time, I could watch the ringer volume icon come up and drop the volume in fits and spurts until it pegs at zero. This is extra annoying because even the non-audio functions of the phone get clobbered by the ringer icon popping up in the center of the screen.. very unhappy. This is not a case issue, and not a headphone issue. I've found about 5 possible fixes on the discussion boards, and have found that zero work.

I am Also having these issues. iPhone 3G purchased Oct 08. Running 3.0. Currently my ringer pops up on it's own and drops volume down to zero, well one square. It also randomly switches vibrate on and off. On touches to the screen the volume rocker or silent/loud bell pops up or off with consecutive taps. It is acting all around laggy and wild. I have done: hard reset, restore, and restore as new, with no luck. I am beggining to think it must be hardware related. Since there are no Apple stores near me (1500 miles) I may try my luck at an apple authorized service center here and see what they say. I have not added any new apps latley or new headphones. Sorry for typing I'm using the aforementioned iPhone which has a mind of it's own.

I'm having some success after redownloading and then restoring the 3.0 upgrade (deleted original 3.0 file, restored in iTunes--which triggered a fresh download). Since then my iPhone 3G is much more usable. There's still some funny behavior of the volume tab moving by itself after I change volume, but I'm not getting the random vibrations all the time.

Having the same issues with the ringer. Glad I'm not the only one. Seems like there are some rather strange bugs with this firmware release. Anyway I will be switching to another phone so it's not imperative that I get a fix asap but I would still like to see Apple get on the ball with this as i'll still be keeping it for the other functions.

After trying another clean reload of my phone, the volume dropping phantom returned. I can see no pattern in the drops (e.g. jiggling the phone, headphones or not, type of audio playing, volume history, ambient weather, battery status, time of day, connected or disconnected to my computer, etc). I finally went to an Apple store and they replaced my phone with no hassle. Now I have a working iPhone again and am happy. Hopefully the system log that I sent to Jason Lawrence from Apple will help their engineers figure out what is going on. They genus at the apple store was convinced it was a malfunctioning volume rocker on the side of the phone. This could be--I'll let you know if the new phone has the same problem.

I am having the same issue with my brand new 3GS. Volume drops to one bar, along with the ringer. Ringer icon keeps popping up while texting. I will be heading to the local Apple Store tomorrow.

Had same problem, discovered that the silent button above the ring volume setting had moved to on. Turned it off and now the ringing works.
