This is what Apple did for me!
Posted: Sep 5, 2007 5:28 PM

Bought my 4G iPhone on July 1st. Totally happy with phone and I have no problems with it. I am not happy about the price drop at all. I have been an Apple customer since 1987! I called Tech Support at 1-800-My-Apple and the tech guy liked my story and transferred me to customer relations. One hour later, I was finally talking to a human--I told them my story and that I was upset. They checked my purchase history and my story checked out. I told them I didn't want cash but maybe store credit. I told them I was getting ready to purchase a new iMac wthen Leopard came out and also looking to buy an Airport Extreme Base unit. But now I was going to wait a while and wait for the prices to drop by 33%. He laughed but he totally understood!! He said since it had been longer than 14 days and I bought it at an Apple store--I was out of luck! But--he said since I was a loyal customer, he would ship me a new Airport Extreme Base Unit for free!!! They cost $179 retail, so I took the deal and I am pleased with it!! When dealing with customer service---be firm but polite!!! Don't expect cash refund but maybe you can negotiate something else you might need!!

Congrats to you! I tried, but the woman said she was unable to do anything, but that I should post on the boards. So, here I am. I hope someone out there can put a little bug in Mr. Job's ear. I hope others have a similar experience as you did!

Well then for the record, $180 in Apple Store credit would suffice for me just fine.

As it would for me as well but I gotta say, I am still **** pleased with my iPhone...even at the $650.00 price range... (That's including tax...) Sure the price drop was a bit extreme but DVD players, HiDef TVs and other "popular" electronics all dropped in price, it's the name of the game and the iPhone is no exception. I'm just glad to have one and look forward to the upgrades and hope to get more great use out of my iPhone.

Post a picture of the box with the Airport Extreme in it and we'll believe you.

PS The bump wasn't too obvious.

Good one. Throwing in "kid" really drives your point home. I'm so ashamed. I'll be sure to go tell my son not to ever doubt someone again.

Mine is a true story! Found out about the price drop this afternoon and when I got home I called. Took about 1 hour and 15 minutes all told. My reps name was Matt and I have my case number. Told processing time would be about 24-48 hours and shipping another 24. Should have it by weekend or Monday. I will post when I get it. I knew what I was after before I ever called! I planted the idea with the rep early on in the conversation. I gave him an option and he took it! I still love my iPhone and have no plans on getting rid of it and I have zero problems!

I certainly hope it comes in the mail. I'm usually suspicious until I have the item (or credit or whatever) in hand. I've worked customer service before and know what really happens. Then again, Apple CS does seem to care... a little.
