Activations Down
Posted: Oct 3, 2007 7:22 PM

Just purchased my iPhone tonight and can't seem to get it activated on iTunes. It says activations not available at this time.
Funny thing was as Apple iTunes was trying to authenticate my ID, it updated to the most recent software. Is that supposed to happen? I thought the phone was supposed to get activated first, and then you do the software upgrade.

Anyone know what the exact reasoning why we can't activate our iPhones? Was this outage expected and how much longer will it take to activate my iPhone?

For now, you'll just have to wait and be patient.

This is upsetting me too!!! I just came home with my iPhone and when I get to the screen "iTunes Account (Apple ID)", I enter my Apple ID and password and after 5 minutes get back the error "There was an error trying to authenticate your iTunes Store Account." Is this the same error?

ya, this *****. i had to get my phone replaced and now i cant activate it... i called the "iphone activation line" - (1-877-800-3701) and the guy told me it is a problem with itunes and there was nothing att was able to do. He said he has been getting calls about it all night and all he can say about it is to just wait it out, it could be 5 min. or half an hour or more.

Losing $175 due to iPhone Activation Server problem
Posted: Oct 4, 2007 6:49 PM   in response to: fredrickyoon

I have to port my number by tomorrow morning or I pay $175 to Verizon.

If I wanted something that did not work, I would have bought a Zune.

What happened to redundancy. I'm not Mr. Spock, but isn't that 101 for a corporation of this scale?

It's 9 p.m. here. I am staying at work. I hope they are.

They told me "a few hours."

I pressed and he told me that they have been saying that all day long.

I expect more from this brand.

oh guys relax. how do you think i felt. I waited in line for 8 hours on launch day and had to wait almost 4 hours to get mine activated. its a server side problem that is going to be fixed. we are talking about an issue that a team at Apple or ATT is freaking out right now trying to right. Patience. you will be all set soon.

I too have had the same message. I have been trying all day to get this activated. I'm sure it is easy if you are ever able to get there...
