Lost iTunes Plus Upgrades?

Argh, for whatever reason, when I try to upgrade my iTunes library to incorporate the newest iTunes Plus additions, iTunes locks up. To add insult to injury, when I try restarting iTunes and use "Check for Purchases" when I restart the program, it thinks that I successfully downloaded a few of the tracks but locks up when it tries to download the rest.
Is there anyway I can get those "upgraded" versions that I missed, because, I've checked, they didn't make it into my library.

I tried downloading the free single, and that worked fine, and it dumps a few "download.m4a" files in tmp folders under iTunes Music/Downloads, but they have none of the metadata or anything, and a couple of them are incomplete.
I think it may be a problem with replacing the old tracks, though I've tried both "Move to Desktop" and "Move to Trash."
The big thing is I don't want to have to repurchase the two albums I upgraded just to get the DRM-free version, which I really want, so I can toss it on my PS3/PSP as well as my iPhone and computer.

Sorry for the rapid updates in succession--any way to edit these posts?
I tried downloading the new Iron & Wine album (which is iTunes Plus) and it worked without a hitch, so I think that, for whatever reason, it's having trouble replacing the old library files with the new ones.
EDIT: Just found the edit button, sorry for being a noob.

Same problem here, download is ok, but iTunes freezes when trying to replace the current file. When I restart iTunes it thinks I've downloaded the file successfully. So net result is that I paid for something I did not get. Sent an email to Apple support, but not response yet.

HA! best of luck with this one.
about a month back, i had this exact same problem. Apple kept sending me links to re-download what i had purchased. what do i get? the same, DRM-wrapped, 128kbps files i already had. apple refused to acknowledge anything wrong on their part and i gave up.
and again... its happened. an Old Crow Medicine Show album and a Patton Oswalt album i had were available for upgrading, so i did.
same. effing. problem.
i have NO clue how to resolve this or what to do. i wish you could rely on Apple to help fix this, but i doubt it. i'm very VERY ****** about this and want action ow. my money is stolen because i'm not getting the product i paid for.

I am NOW having the same problem. iTunes locks up every time I try to upgrade to the iTunes Plus version of a song. Immediately upon download, iTunes stops responding and I have to Force Quit to do anything. Once I restart iTunes, it begins with the next song that it was trying to download and does not see that my first download never completed. I tried a search for the missing tracks and did not find them via Spotlight.
Apple has been very good an working with me on these download issues, but this needs to be fixed. Do I have to go through all of my purchases and search for each one on my hard drive just to make sure they are delivering me the product I purchased?

I'm having the same issue this evening. The automated email response just came through, but it looks like Apple has a major issue with their iTunes Plus download scheme. Downloads get to the processing file stage but never complete the process, and iTunes requires a force quit to get rid of the beach ball.

Same issue here, hope a fix comes out soon.
A few of the tracks made it to the artist folders but did not show up in the library or replace the existing file

Add me to the list of those having the same problem. I finally decide to do the iTunes Plus upgrades, it's taking forever to get through 70 songs. I've been trying for a couple of days now. I haven't even looked yet, but I suspect all the ones that supposedly downloaded so far are gone...

rest assured, this is not a new problem. like i stated in my first post in this thread, this happened to me about a month/month and a half ago with no real resolution on Apple's end.
i ended up around $15 poorer with nothing to show for it.
this MUST be fixed. NOW. amazon.com is becoming more and more difficult to pass up.

Funny, I thought about that too but then couldn't explain why that would make a difference so didn't mention it. I am using an external drive.

i wouldn't think it would make a difference. now that i think about it, unless Apple did something screwy in a prior update, it shouldn't. i remember when iTunes Plus premiered, i was able to upgrade a whole bunch of tracks/albums without a hitch.
so there shouldn't be a problem now. right?
