No. I've just purchased the S9 and it works as a headset for the phone, but does not play music through the headset. It is to do with the Bluetooth technology used with the S9 (A2DP), which the iPhone does not currently support.

Using a bluetooth transmitter kind of defeats the purpose of the iphone which is a bluetooth device. Apple sould issue an update allowing the use of the S9 with the iphone and also allowing any bluetooth stereo headset to cancel the onboard speaker when they are connected/synced.

Which bluetooth transmitter are you using to make the Motorola S9 work with the iPhone? I have the TMR-BT8iP by Sony and am having difficulty with streaming music. Your response is greatly appreciated.

I am still in shock that this "revolutionary" phone doesn't support A2DP; but currently it does not. That is why you are having trouble sinking the two. I have the S9 and I have a couple different bluetooth adapters. I can get the S9 to work as a headset for the phone. I can also get it to play music with or without the adapter. In either case the stream is mono as A2DP (not supported here) is what delivers the stereo stream. I have been impressed by this phone in many areas, but I have never been quite as disappointed with a phone in this area. No A2DP, no voice recognition, no copy and paste functions. These are elementary features found on much less expensive “non-revolutionary” phones.
Come on Apple, FIX THIS!!!

Yes, i love this Iphone again as i did some critical reaserch today, I went to Fry's Electronics here in Fremont Cali today and got myself a Moto S9 headset but did not get the bundle pack which i got yesterday and just got me frustrated over my Iphone. But, what I did was i got a S9 Headset and a Sony wireless transmitter model# TMRBT8ip. This is mainly use for ipod video 5th gen. and ipod classic. I can confirm this works!!!!! better than that Moto s9 bundle pack, but it also has its draw back, the Sony does not have HFP profile which it cannot answer phone calls but it has AVRCP,A2DP which is a great thing.
The music goes on mute but the calls does not transmitt into the headset.I will be testing other transmitter in market and i will gladly post this here

Love the phone... but the S9 will not work with the iphone unless you buy an transmitter... Which is sad! I don't want to carry around an adaptor... I just want (A2DP) wireless music and bluetooth wireless phone in one headset, such as the S9 Moto! Come-on-Apple! MAKE IT HAPPEN!

I also have purchased these headphones in the hopes of them working with the iPod part of the phone. I jog regularly and I got these because I can't keep the other earphones in my ears. I hope that Apple will issue an update so these will work with my iPod because I am not going to buy an extra transmitter just so these will work.

I am so disapointed, I bought a $400 phone that can't support my s9 headset.
Apple come on. I need a update. I don't want to have to buy an adapter the phone was expensive enough. My Krazr from motorola supports the S9 and that was only $200. What up?

I was in a wireless store when I inquired to a manager about this product (S9 Motorola Bluetooth Wireless Headset), and asked if it worked with both the iPod and phone capabilities of my iPhone....to which this manager replied that she knew for a fact that she had read on the apple support forums that this product did, in fact work with both music and phone functionality, once paired.

I believe now that she was using this tactic to make more apple-endorsed-sales of this headset, and therefore get more commissions for her store. I mean every employee in the store was wearing them and toting that they worked flawlessly when asked, it was disgusting now that I think of it.

I called the store back up and asked to speak to that manager again, and she maintained that what she read was in fact true, even when I told her that I found that the iPhone does not currently support this headset's bluetooth technology, and that possibly what she read was that once paired the headset works with the phone part of the iPhone but not the iPod part.....she railed that she was correct and that what she read supported both, in spite of all evidence to the contrary, here on apple's support forums.

I think that wireless company employees with a new product that they cannot officially confirm compatibilities, should not go unchecked for spreading misinformation, merely to promote sales for walk-ins...its really terrible, especially on the biggest day of the shopping year and all the hype already created and money put into incentives to rush sales.

Don't believe the hype. Even the phone capability of the S9 headset is not stereo for the iPhone. Really not worth over a $100 for this kind of minor functionality.

I have tried getting the S9 Motorola wireless Active Headphones for iPod to work with the iPhone. I cannot get it to work - I cannot listen to podcasts or music. The S9 came with a D650 bluetooth adapter. I tried plugging this into the bottom of the iPhone while it was playing in iPod mode. The iPhone displayed a message, "This accessory is not made to work with an iPhone". It then offers me some options about airplane mode. The adapter tries to pair, as evidenced by its flashing blue light but nothing comes through the headset. Instead the music keeps playing through the external speaker on the headphone.

The s9 can indeed pair with the iPhone but only to be used in the telephone mode with only the left earphone being active.

I have seen things such as this
Motorola S9 Bluetooth Stereo Headset for Apple iPhone
http://www.cellxpo.com/SbBrand-Apple-iPhone-Bluetooth_Headset-S9.asp

Could it be that Motorola are selling an adapter that works with the iPhone or are companies marketing this as if it works because technically they are telling truth. It works for the telephone not the iPod.

Yes it does in a wierd kinda way. You need to pair your S9 headset to the iPhone and to your wireless transmitter. In my case I am using the Sony TMR-BT8IP Wireless Transmitter. After doing this you can stream your music to your headset and and mak/answer calls with your headset as well.

Can you explain how you did this? I have paired the S9 directly with the phone, and can use it for calls. Then I plugged in the bluetooth transmitter, and audio comes out of the external speakers but there is not any sound coming from the headphones. Please help.

i dont think it needs to be in any specific order but this is the order i do it in. I first pair my headphones to the iPhone. I then plug in the bluetooth transmitter and dismiss the warning. Go to the ipod menu and press play the sound should not be heard at all. Pair the headphones to the transmitter and wait a while. Music then begins to play through the headphones. Works all the time for me.
